I plan on using my Redneck Ghillie Blind to deer hunt this fall. It came with "shoot threw mesh" but I'm a little skeptical. I'm definitely leaning towards "no" with archery equipment but maybe firearms wouldn't be so bad. It doesn't take much to make an arrow kick but perhaps a bullet would still fly true. Any pros or cons on the shoot threw mesh?

They do it on videos...
But, I wouldnt want to take the chance. 100% no way with a mechanical bhead, iffy with a standard, and cut on contact would seem to be best chance, but still not for me!

Can’t remember the show but they ran a bunch of arrows through the mesh windows of different kinds of blinds they all work fine until the used open on impact heads. I’ve never have but also wondered if it would have any impact. I’ve hunted out of blinds a fair amount with kids my best advice would be
Keep as many windows closed as you can especially the ones behind you Wear black or what ever color the inside of the blind is Carpet or the likes on the floor goes a long ways for sound Put it out early and leave it till your done hunting for the year Like any stand don’t over hunt it

You better have at least one set of earplugs on if shooting with the muzzle of a gun inside a blind, I wouldn't try it without doubling up on hearing protection.

I’ve never shot an arrow through window mesh.
Caveat .. I don’t deer hunt out of a blind. I just turkey hunt and my Windows in the front are open with no mesh. I’ve got several bow killed gobblers shooting straight away through the open window. Turkeys don’t pay near as much attention to blinds and what is in them as deer do.
Woodmaster and I have killed numerous turkeys that have hung up to the sides and would not come in. We shot flat through the mesh and killed them. It does put quite a hole in the mesh though. No effect on the pattern that I’m aware of.

Any kind of gun hunting I have on electronic muffs. I have hearing loss now. I don’t need any more. Protect your hearing folks. When it’s gone there is no getting it back. Yes, hearing aids help but not that much and nowhere near as good as you regular hearing.

The further away from the point of origin an object is, the worse the deflection. Basically, shooting through the mesh at a few inches isnt really that bad, shooting through it at 30 yards would be worse.
That said, I still dont do it.

Thanks for the input folks. As for the early protection, I bought a pair of electronic ear muffs before turkey season this year. I paid $20 and I'm s little disappointed. Lots of static sound. I'll pick up a better pair soon.
I think I'll probably pass on using the mesh. I do wear black while inside the blind and don't open my front windows all the way and keep the back shut.
I guess when you sit in the blind for a long time with no activity your mind starts getting curious.

They type of electronic hearing muffs that I use amplify sound until the gun goes off and then shuts off the sound to protect my ears. I can hear normal conversations fine when wearing them and they block the sound of a gunshot great.

I use mine mostly on rainy days. I never shot through the screens though. Looking through them makes me kind of woozzy for some reason. I often wondered what it will be like when I touch off the flintlock inside.

I forgot once and shot my bow with fixed broad head threw the mesh. Hit the doe perfect so I think it didn't make any difference. For some reason I forget that morning to take them down and now I have a nice little hole in the mesh to remind me. I prefer them down to make more room for the arrow when I get ready to shot.
