Eliminate the hunter orange requirement for ground blinds for deer hunting. (312 IAC 9-2-15) It would be interesting to know how many blinds were stolen with this rule. Stood out like a sore thumb. Never liked it.

Never liked it. I think it's a dumb rule, but I spray painted big orange sections on mine. I've also wanted just to spray my name all over them in orange, may do that to the next one if this rule holds up.

I actually asked the manufacturers if they would consider making some in solid hunter orange. I wanted them for the Park hunts.

I'm sad to read about the ruffed grouse. Ruffed grouse are on track for local extinction without major management actions.Populations have steadily declined and are at less than 1% of the levels observed in the 1980s. Some of my best deer hunting memories was watching and listening to them. A real loss.

As far as air rifles and air bows go, if the DNR feels they can humanely kill a deer, then I have no problem with them.
My opinion on hunter orange on blinds is that I see the necessity of it on public ground. On private ground I don't know if it's as necessary unless the blind is located near a property line.

I think the hunter orange for a ground blind should be mandatory on public land/park hunts for safety issues.
I wish they'd add geese to the nuisance permit list of birds.

Yeah, as long as they stay in firearms season. Orange on blinds on public land; OK. I’d rather let it be up to the individual but I can live with it. On private land, I’m good with doing away with it.

If they do away with orange on blind for private land then may as well make all private land no Orange at all.... SMH

Protect the grouse...however I think habitat loss is the primary issue for their decline. Until the state decides to manage for them OR they can promote landowners to create/maintain habitat for them they are in big, big trouble.
I support keeping the orange requirements on blinds...you can extend it to elevated blinds for all I care. You need to know where other hunters are...especially when using a long range weapon like a firearm...just my opinion.

My son is stoked about being able to use my big bore air rifle for youth season. Its been hard to get him out and now he wont shut up about it. I’m a bit exited also! Hope it passes! Id like to see coyote season opened year around also!
