I'll say! The very first motorcycle I ever fell in love with was an Indian twin of about that age, best I could recall later when looking up pics and trying to date it. The family had pulled into a drive-in restaurant and were getting curb service when the cool dude with his visor cap and a pack of smokes in his t-shirt sleeve pulled in next to us with the cutie on the seat behind him, and they got off to eat inside.
I was maybe ten at the time, and took more note of the Chief than I did of the rear seat passenger.
It was beautiful! Swoopy fenders and dark red paint with cream colored striping and leather fringes hanging from the seat and saddlebags, nice big windshield out front to deflect the bugs.
I liked my own ride at the time, a 24" standard re-furbed at the local bike shop, but I remembered that Chief every time I threw a leg over my bike for a long time.

I dated a girl back in the early '60s, and her older brother had an old red Indian in their garage. Sadly I was more interested in the girl than the motorcycle. Interests have changed a bit since then, LOL I used to work with a fellow who had a very serious illness when he was a young teenager. His dad told him if he beat the disease he'd buy him a new Indian Chief. He regained his health and his pop bought him the Indian. The old man got to thinking about his promise and decided he came so close to loosing his son to illness he didn't want to loose him to a motorcycle wreck and he couldn't lie to his son so...... He had the dealer dismantle the bike and he hid it in the hay loft. Years past the old man died and the son had forgotten the whole thing. The death of his dad awakened the memories of the old/new Indian and he found it exactly where the old man had left it. He told me his son was in the process of putting it back together and restoring it.

Yes sir fellas! These are quite the bikes. Unfortunately, negotiations are at a stalemate. The owner won't budge on his price and I'm not moving from my offer. We are still $5K apart. Many factors enter into a decision like this. It can be tough to hold emotions in check. I want this baby so bad, yet at the end of the day, I've got to be true to my position. Boy is she a beauty though:

You would think by now there would be some safety barriers. I 'm sure there are a few high priority curves. I guess it will take 260 killed.

I watched part of the race on TV and the speeds that they are carrying thru the curves and over the hills is NUTS.
Public roads, not much room for any safety barriers in many of the areas - you'd take away from the width of the roadway.
