I know that Indiana has at least four species of squirrels: fox, gray, pine and flying. Flying squirrels are protected but are color phase fox and gray squirrels, black, albino and pibald legal to hunt? Inquiring minds want to know...…….robin

There may be certain areas where the black color phase of the greys are verboten. I'm not sure on the albino's.

To my knowledge (for what that is worth) I don't think the state protects color phase or genetic oddities in game animals.
Regulations do clearly specify grey and fox squirrels...

I know in the 1979 hunting regulations I have here the black and white are protected. Not sure if that has changed or they just stopped putting in the regs.
I think there is one town with whites and they are protected, but I don't recon a color phase would be protected state wide.
