About 3 weeks ago when walking at the back of the property I noticed a dead spike. No obvious cause of death, but it had been dead for a while. Nothing had touched it, but the eyes were all dried out and sunken in.
When I walked back there today there was nothing left except for about a handful of hair. NOTHING. No bones, skull, nothing except the hair. I'll have to do more searching when I have more time to see if there is anything at all left. I'm guessing coyotes made off with it.

Coyotes dragged it somewhere you will probably find bones scattered about the area.

Squirrels will eat the antlers, opossum will eat the flesh and bones. Turkey vultures, crows, fox are a few of the MANY things in nature that will clean up the carcasses of dead animals.
I've seen a full sized buck disappear in just two days.
