I don't buy the access argument. Maybe access to land you WANT to hunt but there are hundreds of thousands of acres of Hoosier National, much with low pressure. Private land is sometimes hard to gain access to but there is plenty of land out there to hunt.

I own and so does everyone MILLION of acres in numerous states I have the ability to hunt...you hit the nail on the head when you said "WANT to hunt." If it weren't for, possibly still may, I'll be hunting OH public this year and look forward to it! Won't expect a giant or anything particular but will love the ability to do it.

I think the issue is school. Almost every kid goes to college and that takes a lot of their time. When they get out their in major dept and most of them have a girlfriend or boyfriend. Hunting is the last thing on their mind. Then they buy a house or get married and more dept. Once again hunting on the back burner. If they want to hunt where's the extra money for an expensive hobby.

Correct, but in Wi., I've hunted there for years and virtually no scouting is needed, and out West my cousin is there and he knows where to go. Again, no scouting needed except for 1 day. Plus in Wi, $100 covers lodging and some food for the 6 days I'm there and out West I stay with my cousin. Or tent camp with him. So there's not a lot of $$ spent on accommodations. I'll admit, I'm a cheapskate!

There is camping options in the HNF. Or in Spans barn you cheapskate.
He'd even let you scavenge free eggs for breakfast!

Ty, what part of OH will you be hunting? We are thinking of making a trip to the Wayne National Forest.

One way to cut down on the egg production is to make chicken soup.

One way to cut down on the egg production is to make chicken soup. Nope, he is the only hard core hunter I know who is vegetarian. He can't bring himself to harming another critter in order to provide nutrition. He "rabbit hunt" without a gun. He "deer hunts" to get naps in.

I carried a gun twice this year running dogs. Took it back to the truck once but that's besides the point.

I don't have to kill everything I see. Don't feel bad about your lack of hunting ability. Even the Indians needed gatherer's
