Definitely "not the best shot in the world" but it got the job done! Cool video of the fox too

Best thing he called it a trophy. Every deer taken is a trophy.

I appreciate it when folks share hunts that aren't perfectly scripted. Truly not the best shot but it happens. Of course the arrow angled forward some too, but I'd rather see that hip shot than the guts if I had to pick.

Quartering he needed to hit back, a bit farther back than would be ideal perhaps but it worked. I would have taken the shot. Not every shot one takes is executed perfectly

Looks like he clipped the artery that runs under the spine. I've taken a shot at a similar angle. The exit wound was tight to the opposite front leg though. My neighbor stopped by when I was hanging it and was surprised when I told him it was the exit wound.

I hit that artery on my last buck. I was worried about recovering the deer, but it acted funny. It made about three jumps and then stood still, looked around and blew a few times. Then it began to get splay-legged, lowered its head, made a few wobbly circles and went down in sight. I may have caught the top/back of the entry side lung just a little. I'll gladly take a little luck now and then.
