www.usatoday.com/story/money/2019/10/08/Dicks-sporting-goods-nra-tweet-assault-rifles-destroyed-ed-stack/3905106002/Here's the way I look @ this... If Dick's want to destroy 5 million dollars worth of AR15s to make a point, that's certainly their choice. Just like raising the age of purchase for firearms to 21 and taking firearms out of more stores every year. Their business, their choice. The other side of that coin is...shoppers will decide whether to shop @ Dick's as time passes due to the above decisions. Some will stay, some will go. That is ultimately the decision for the consumer to make. Will it really hurt Dick's long term? Only time will tell.

I can't say I ever purposely sought out their stores.....but because of their actions I have made certain I don't support them. What I think they failed to see was that their actions was NOT going to get them more sales....but instead helped alienate some of their current customers. You are gonna have to sell a lot of yoga pants to make up for the sale of a rifle! Then if your going to destroy your own inventory...well, that just doesn't make a lot of sense either. It's their choice in how they choose to do business.... I am not sure on the legality of them being able to restrict sales to 21 y/o, but I'm not a lawyer. if they want to be a store for the yuppie crowd....that is their call. I can get my guns, camo, ammo, stands and other hunting and fishing related gear from other retailers. I can even get my other sports related stuff elsewhere also. They want to be Dick's....then be Dick's!

I use to shop at Dick's all the time for my three boys sports and buy hunting stuff. I have not and will not support them per their actions.

It's the best move they could've done to help save the local mom and pop sporting goods stores!

It's the best move they could've done to help save the local mom and pop sporting goods stores! Yes, I agree. Close to 100% mom and pops these days.

Their first debacle in 2012 after Sandy Hook, I decided that their corporate strategy was a knee-jerk reaction and is definitely a company I did not want to do business with.

Oh how I miss Galyans, but that notwithstanding, Dicks sporting goods as never a place I sought out. The gear they carried was cheap and just not anything I would or even could use. But today, I assure you, that place will never see a cent of my money, and no one I know will ever shop there. They`re not your friend if you`re a Second Amendment advocate.

Was in the Carmel location 2 days ago to get my youngest boy his basketball gear. Needed one little item for this hunting season I forgot my last trip to Cabelas. Ran upstairs to find they no longer had a hunting section. Have to think they ultimately pulled it due to that particular customer base no longer shopping there. Was told hunting items only available in a couple locations.

My local Dick's in Mishawaka is still the same old store. As a matter of fact, I was in there the other day and it appears like maybe they expanded the hunting section a little from previous years. The camping/cooking section is growing but it appears like the fishing section has shrunk a little? Just my observation. I won't buy much there unless I'm in a pinch. They have a really good deal on archery targets right now. I got a McKenzie one for $19.
