Tried it for a couple hours mid day, only picked up a couple perch. This cold snap is shutting them down, -30 tomorrow night. High today was -13.

Got 15 Christmas trees tied with blocks ready to sink around the lake soon as ice gets thick enough. Look like a couple inches thick. Give it another day a check it again.

Will you cut a hole big enough to drop them thru the ice or just put them out there and let them fall on their own? I picked up 40 of them from the local big box store the day after Christmas and have to put them in my pond. Like you, I'm, waiting for thick ice. The plan on my pond is to drive a pipe in the deepest part of the pond, then tie rope to each tree and loop the end of the rope over the pipe once the water thaws. By doing that I eventually will have a brush pile from the bottom of the pond to the surface.

I’ll still drag a boat with me just in case.

Out in the pond this afternoon, for the first time this season. 4" of clear ice with 1.5" frozen white on the top. Fished 30 min. and only managed 1 bass around 15". Better than a stick in the eye. Might give it a go again tomorrow if the bunnies aren't calling my name.

In the -40's Tuesday and Wednesday, hope the old truck will start so I can get to the fish house...LOL Smoker propane tank froze yesterday, had to warm up a small 20lb cylinder to do a batch of summer sausage and snack sticks.

My neighbor braved the 4" ice on my pond last evening. He caught one golden trout, 1 bluegill and lost 3 more goldens at the hole.

Dang, that looks COLD from here. Good video and good fishing! I'm assuming a slot limit on size?
