Let me start by saying I am not a mechanic by any means, but I am adamant about doing my own oil changes on my 2001 1500 V-8 Dodge Ram. Problem may be today while picking up oil I bought and used 5W/20 rather than the recommended 5W/30. Should I have concerns??. Thanks for any help!

I wouldn't worry about it will be a tad bit thinner, but with the cold coming on it shouldn't hurt anything, it may help it. How many miles do you have on it?

You may see lower oil pressure when it's up to operating temp. Do you have an oil gauge or just an idiot light?

I agree. Possibly a tad lower oil psi. But with cold weather here, you should be fine. My wifes Toyota takes 0W20! That was hard to swallow!

Now just make sure you use ASE Blinker Fluid. You dont want to skimp on that stuff. Nothing but trouble later

No actual pressure sensor just more of an on/off switch. Makes it look like they are reading real pressure when in reality they are electronically controlled and "provide readings that are consistent with customer expectations"

i am like you coolbreeze with oil changes and tire rotations too. But I cant touch what the dealer charges to do a full Synthetic oil change. So I just let them do it.

I discovered this same thing in my daughter's car. The dealer price is $3 higher than me buying the supplies and I don't have to get on the ground. Plus, after 5 punches on the key chain they give us she gets a free one.

My initial concerns were put to rest. It has been too good of a truck to do anything neglectful to it. Once again thanks for the input!
