I know this shot has been out for awhile but with manufacturers like federal and browning starting to produce them it has my attention. Is this stuff specific for longer shots? Have you been able to change choke sizes to a comfortable pattern even for closer shots? My set up does well with the longbeard shells but I am always looking to experiment and make things better. Any input is appreciated. Thanks

I know that is a heck of a deal. Cost me over 6 bucks per shell to load my own, TSS cost me 44 bucks per pound.

If any of you are going to shoot TSS this year you better get on it buying shells. I know Apex is sold out.

If anybody is going to use it in Indiana this year, see Morrison's post about it being legal in Indiana in the "Ask the Conservation Officer" part of this forum.

How is that when the resident CO said no if it even contains shot size that isn’t legal here.

The load may be a blend but it may only contain the legal shot size for hunting turkey. If the load contains shot that is outside the allowed size range, the shot would be considered illegal.
You talking about this post?

No, the post Morrison answered in the ask a CO threads. Do they make a TSS shell with blends from 4-7.5? With a quick look I didn’t find any.

I looked at the Federal Website. There is one load for 20 ga and 2 loads for 12 ga that are Indiana legal, all of them only have #7 shot in the shell. (#7 is larger than #7 1/2)

No sure I ever known anyone to use size 7 for turkeys....guess it's possible. I don't see the need to throw 2+ oz. of lead downrange at a miserly 1,000 fps. Use less shot, get the fps up and do load development. You can get some VERY dense loads with 1 3/8 to 1 1/2 oz of shot and get more fps. THEN you can use 7's or 6's and keep the energy up at a longer distance. In all my patterning, smaller sized shot patterned denser than size 5 and larger shot. They are using larger shot to keep the kinetic energy up at a longer distance. Smaller sized shot, faster fps will keep the same energy and the same distance.

I used TSS last year in Wisconsin Bang Flop at 50+ yds, very impressive.

I shot one at 67 yards with the longbeard xr. No reason for me to try anything different.
