I used to have my CCW... But for some dumb reason I allowed it to expire. Anybody out there recently gone thru the process? Curious is it's still the same or if it's different. I had my CCW pre-911 so not sure if things changed or not. I have heard you can get a lifetime one now.... a 5 year was all that was available that I recall back when I had mine.

It's very easy and straight forward to get a handgun carry permit for personal protection/hunting. There is a form you fill out online, pay a fee, get printed, background check, and pay a local fee at the sheriff's department.

I am aware that a license is not required to legally hunt with a hand gun. It is ,however, still an option through the states handgun license website. At least it was when I purchased my license in August 2018. Back to the original topic. Super easy. Really cheap. Takes a bit of processing time. Start tonight and get it before Thanksgiving.

Indiana has a "license to carry" not a CCW or personal pertection permit! Here is the proper information for a renewal lic. www.in.gov/isp/3196.htm

I got my lifetime permit last year. It was very easy. From the time I started the process until I got my card in the mail took exactly 7 days.

Contrary to what someone upstream said, it`s not cheap either way, but, why not get the lifetime license? One shot, then you don`t have to worry about it again. For the obvious reason, it`s more expensive to get the lifetime, but worth it. I still say Indiana, and the entire country for that matter, need to adopt constitutional carry. We ought not need a government permission slip to keep or bear arms.

If I recall my permit was about $150 for lifetime. Some of the fees may vary with your local law enforcement. The process is about the same as it always was. While you do not need a permit to hunt or shoot the advantages of having a permit are great and well worth the cost. The last I checked there were about 30+ states that honored your Hoosier license.

That's a constitutional right IMHO. I had to pay around $200 total to get my life time permit from Indiana. That included the $50 fee to the local sheriff to process the permit and around $150 to get finger printed digitally and to get the permit from the State. We should not have to pay such high prices (taxes) to carry a hand gun for protection.
