Thank you sir. Supposed to be experimenting with new zones along major travel areas where having high frequency of deer/vehicle collisions IF these prove successful may allow DNR to lower county bonus quotas in these counties and target only the problem areas. (I like the idea myself) I have a spot within 1/4 mile of I64 but it did not fall quite in their zone.

BTW - I could hunt my backyard as it is in the Warrick zone, which I don't quite understand....

With this weather I’m surprised some folks are still hunting and killing some deer.. I have done some dumb things before...but I refuse to hunt when it's like this. No deer is worth frostbite. Besides, you hit a deer now and it's just going to shatter like glass!

My 1st 10 point buck was 3 degrees when I went out and 8 degrees around 10 when I shot him (1987 and last Saturday of gun season). Coldest I ever hunted. 26 years old and full of energy.

My 1st 10 point buck was 3 degrees when I went out and 8 degrees around 10 when I shot him (1987 and last Saturday of gun season). Coldest I ever hunted. 26 years old and full of energy. I had a stupid cold hunt as well that finally ended well, but again I was younger then. I was muzzleloader hunting, last weekend of that season. It was cold and windy and I spent one entire day in an actual stand ...freezing. My beard was froze and I was just miserable. I went out the second day as we really needed another deer in the freezer... that afternoon the weather broke and the wind quit and the sun came out. I had 3 does walk out on me and I went to shoot the biggest one... The cap went snap, but the gun didn't go boom! I did this 3 times! The deer was really starting to bugger off when I tried one more time...and again it went snap...pause...pause "What the #$@%" and just as I started to unshoulder the gun....BOOM! A significant hang fire. Somehow I hit the deer, but not real well, but well enough that I did find her and recover her. That 2 days was a horrible time. I learned a lot those two days. Most importantly it drove me to build my shooting houses and the value of a "buddy heater"!
