That gap closed right up didnt it .... It has closed but there is still a gap. Interesting to see what the rest of the year brings. Not near as many late special season counties this year. Probably going to be “the new norm”.

Probably going to be “the new norm”. I still contend that the opener of gun season this season was about 10,000 short of what 2016 was. I know this years opener was later than 2016, but it still appears to me that we'll end up somewhere around 110,000-115,000 instead of the 120,000-125,000 I thought we would end up at. Truth be told, I think it'll be closer to 110,000. Could I be wrong? Wouldn't be the first time...LOL.

It's been declining the last few years.

It's been declining the last few years. I think the 14% figure you cited is from the harvest by equipment type. The 2017 report shows a muzzleloader season harvest total of 8,870. The late antlerless season total last year was 4,282. Will this year's m/l season numbers be about where they were last year? I have no reason to think they won't be, but I do think the late antlerless numbers will be down as there are fewer counties eligible to participate this year.

Trend so far are youth and archery up slightly and it appears firearms will be very close to last year's total. Still anticipate 115,000-120,000 total harvest. Anyone know if park hunt totals are added in daily harvest or added to total after hunts are finished??
