Interesting day at Willow Slough. We had second pic and we're the first ones infield from the drawing but someone was already there. The guy said he was sixth pick and dropped off his buddy down at the other end of the field or something. About 3 hours in he starts walking out claims he is too hot. Few minutes later CO is walking down the field. He's in his van on the road driving away and the CO pounds on his window but he doesn't stop. Officer was able to get his license plate number though. Other properties I have hunted have steaks to space the hunters out. We had someone set up 20 to 25 yards from us which we thought was pretty close. But then someone set up between us and they were literally 10 yards away. I told him I thought we were too close and they eventually moved down. Hunting for us was slow at first. 2 hours in I had one bird. Ended up with my limit by 5:30 with one shell left. My son ended up with 11. Could be grammar errors this is all voice text.

Better results than us at Kingsbury FWA today.

Just so you guys know I live in the Eastern Time Zone and posted the time wrong. I put this on the Facebook Indiana waterfowlers page and got ripped into about it. We did not hunt past the shooting time.

My buddy shot a limit. I shot 6, this was pretty much my first time dove hunting. I'm addicted.

We did not hunt past the shooting time. It is comical to read some posts on there. It is quite evident that a huge portion of hunters and fishermen do not know the regulations and go by “I heard”...

I believe it's the first 5 days for the lottery , I'll need to call there and find out . maybe hit fair oaks farm for lunch and check out the cows and pigs . I was picked to hunt Jasper Pulaski got there bright and early because the paper I got from the DNR said if you don’t claim your spot by 11am local (10am) central that it would be given away. My neighbor and I rolled up at 6:30 on the button just to find a sign saying the drawing for reserved hunts is at 1pm eastern. Another sign on the door saying dove hunters do not use self check in, you must wait until the drawing at 1pm. I even called JP that Wednesday before the hunt to get info on what fields were available and what time to get there, the lady on the phone told me we can be there anytime after 4am eastern to check in and can’t shoot until 30 minutes before sunrise. I asked her about the drawing result number and she said what number are you? I told her 43, and she responded with wow you barely made the cut we only let 45 hunt a day. I said ok so You’re not doing a pick order? She tells me no and they have limits on each field so if one gets full they open the next field. Although I thought this was weird like I said we head out Sunday morning only to be met with signs saying the complete opposite of what we’ve been told. Sunday was supposed to be a hot one, almost getting into the mid 90s with scattered thunderstorms Sunday. And with having to either drive back home almost 1.5 hours one way, or nap in the car for almost 6 hours we decided to head home and hunt a friends private land that evening. As we were leaving JP 2 trucks were pulling in so we waved them down and asked if they were dove hunting. The two younger boys said yes, I told them to go check and read the notice on the doors to see if they see something we didn’t. They read the signs and said that didn’t make sense because they had both called as well and spoke with someone that week. They were given the same information from the gentleman they spoke with. What irks me is that I was debating on either picking the slough, lasalle, or JP. Sounds like your hunt went well from the slough tho so that’s nice. Would you pick willow slough again next year? I know I won’t be picking JP for any of my hunts, I’ll go to lasalle or the slough.

What do you think a stand is? Seems you think it’s not right to hang stands up on PUBLIC land. Since you seem so eager to know though we have about 5 of us that hunt and we all have stands, some of us multiple, we set um up and hunt out of each others depending on the day. Oh and guess what...we even have climbers OMG 😮 terrible I know!!!

I was trying to understand your thought process.... I hear a lot people complain that someone hangs stands and then thinks they control that area for the entire season but I am sure your not that guy! Thanks
