True.. but they still “do not have a legal right to be here”. Thus the term illegal alien..

The color of this man’s skin has absolutely nothing to do with this case. It would sicken me just as much if he was a white, blond haired, blue eyed illegal from Sweden.
The fact of the matter if he was not in this country illegally Molly would still be jogging up and down that road.

That's more/less what I said earlier... "letting people who are here illegally slide through the cracks to fill a job is in and of itself, illegal and the employers should face fines and/or jail time if they are found to willingly ignore the law." Everyone wants to talk about building walls and hiring more border cops, but I've always looked @ this differently. I would improve the e-verify system, go after the employers who chose to play along with fake credentials, deny citizenship to any child born in the United States if both of the parents are here illegally and improve the citizenship and/or work visa process for those who want to come to this country in a legal manner.

Call me a bigot if you like but if they are an “illegal” than they have ZERO rights to be here no matter their nationality or skin color. Says the white guy who never felt the need to flee his country to survive and build a life mostly free from corrupt government and police. And unlike some I am glad of it and make no excuses or apologies for it.

Most people I’ve met that oppose illegal immigration to the point to act that all illegals are bad are the same as the people who think all gun owners are bad... Narrow minded bigots. I never called anyone a racist here but lots of the conversation on this site has plenty of racist undertones. Maybe people should open their minds more than their mouths. You have taken an interesting position on this one ..... When did nationality become a "race"? Americans come in all shapes, sizes and colors but when we talk about folks from other nations it becomes simply about race and nothing else? Ive always felt that is a weak ass argument to try and make ... There is a process to seek asylum, citizenship or legal residency. Anyone who follows those processes I welcome with open arms. Anyone who does not follow those processes I welcome about as much as I would a stranger standing in my kitchen unannounced. This man did not follow any of those processes and ended up killing a young woman.

With E-verify, you need more than a SS#, an employer has to fill out an I-9 which requires the person to show some array of documents, like an SS card, drivers license, passport or others, there is a whole list. Of course these can be forged, and some do.
Bottom line, he should not have been here, but crooked people figure out how to cheat the system, usually about five minutes after it goes live.
I hope he gets the needle

This whole society is messed up. I just got a boy yesterday in my room from Guatemala. Does not speak a lick of English. What am I going to do for that poor boy. Legally we can not ask if they are legal or not. Our K rooms have 31 year with 25-26 being Hispanic. Most dont speak any English. Those 25 Hispanic kids in your k rooms have parents taking 50 jobs from Americans. You can thank the liberals that infect your profession. I will respectfully disagree with your statement. I am in the construction business and cannot go one single day without hearing "can't get any help." It's every day. Plumbers, electricians, concrete finishers, truck drivers, etc.

freedomehunter beermaker These two quotes are a perfect example of why this country is so divided on this issue. I will respectfully stick with what I wrote, having been in the construction industry for 25 years I have seen the face of it change. I won't go down the worm hole and come off like some kind of racist, because I am not, like jjas said there is a division and it isn't going away anytime soon.

We are only a couple of generations away from segregation and we all know what prior generations said about integrating blacks and whites. We have a long way to go as far as learning how to get along goes. It’s just extra ironic that a country built on the back of immigrant labor (lots of it illegal)that we are so intolerant of immigrants. Just guessing by my known family history that my ancestors who came her were probably not on the “up and up”

Been reading all these statements and I don't know why it's hard to understand if a person is a illegal alien or not. If your in any country and are not a citizen of that country your an alien. If your in that country but not legally your an illegal alien. The young man who killed the young lady as I have seen on the local news is a illegal alien. No gray area, black and white.

I retired from the Laborers Union - they are completely buried in work and screaming for people to work for good pay and first class benefits. Many guys come in and want to jump on board - but they can't pass the drug test. Or when they are told where to report for testing, you never hear from them again. I mean a LOT of guys (and women), maybe a third or more.
I understand that some big plants like Toyota etc have the same problem.
For us, a young guy could come in and make $45,000 or more the first year with top notch health insurance for the whole family. But you have to pass a drug test. I don't know where there minds are at. Rather smoke dope than have a good job with bennies

Number of years ago, I went on a guided Elk hunt in SW Colorado. I had noticed a young man working around the stables working with the horses and doing work with all the leather. While in the base area I saw that he kept to himself even eating the evening meal off to the side. Got into a conversation with the outfitter one night about the area we were in, land prices, the economy, a little bit of info about him, and he was full of questions about Indiana. It got around to the shy black haired guy with light brown skin. Got an earfull then. Best guy he had ever hired in years of outfitting. Seems he was from the high mountain area of Peru. After spending a couple of thousand dollars in advertising and searching months for someone to work the hunting and summer horse back for a few months, with not one person answering a friend of his put him on to where he got his help.
It seems that quite a few outfitters had the same problems and finally found a guy who specialized in finding people who wanted to work. The contractor chartered a flight from Lima to Denver that was full of men with all kinds of talents related to working with horses, and camp work, etc. Once they go to Denver they were all driven around to there destination. The fellow had a wife and two young kids back in Peru and in addition to what the outfitter paid to employ him, the guy made more in just the tips from clients then he made back home in one year.
Outfitter made sure he had plenty of envelopes, paper and stamps and asked him to write home at least once a week, and that he would help with getting some money back to his wife to keep her happy while he was gone to insure that she would let him come back each year. With the tips and salary totaled up, compared to what he was making back home, he was considered a rich man.
The outfitter said he had mentioned to the fellow once about helping him immigrating here with his wife and kids but got flat turned down by him and his wife. Coming here for several months a year was just a means of supporting his family and he had no desire to make the US permanent even though he loved it here.
No fake paper work, or sneaking across the border in the middle of the night, all above board and all legal.

I can't speak for everyone, but I would imagine most people don't have a problem with situations like the one you outlined due to one simple fact. Based on what you posted, the man was here legally.
I have zero issues with legal immigrants. I have a ton of issues with illegal immigrants and companies that knowingly hire them and fake the paper work necessary to do so.
I also have issues with the way we handle immigration. It shouldn't be that difficult to come here legally via a work visa and a path to legal citizenship if that's what they want.
