Japanese Beetles!!!
It's been looking like a plague in my garden. Treating with Neem Oil, but not much success. I'm not wanting to kill of the bees.
How do y'all deal with these ravenous pests?

I've got hundreds if not thousands eating my Japanese wisteria. It's their natural food so I expect it. Would be ok except its over my deck and their dropping have to be hosed off every couple days. On a bright note they do eat morning glorys I've been trying to get rid of. The only thing I know what kills them is sevin but it kills everything else also. I did find a solution for wood bees thats non toxic if anyone is interested.

Never had a problem with them but was reading about a trap people make for them.

Probably 35 years ago I was at me best friend's house and his mother had several of the bag traps in her coveted flower beds. We decided that it would be a good idea to drop firecrackers in the bags. Big mistake. The beetles aren't dead, but just trapped. Most of them were blown out of the bags and all over the plants. We spent the rest of the day hand-picking them and being scolded. She chewed my a&% more that day than my own mother ever has.
Just like yellow jacket traps, place them AWAY from your house, not right in the landscaping. If you use the bags, fill them with water and tie the tops. The beetles will drown and can be thrown away.

I discovered they are destroying my fruit trees. I spayed them with liquid 7 a few days ago. Well see how well/how long it works. I also sprayed my young oak trees while I was at it.

I use seven dust on things I don't eat, though it's supposed to be safe for that. Dust small trees and my Hostas once and a while. I had success with a mixture of dish soap and water i found on the internet. It suffocated the little sap-sucking samurais pretty good. Can't recall the formula but I'm sure you can google it.

My neighbor volunteered this year and I have none so far. They put up two Japanese beetles traps. One in front and one in back. They worked great attracting them from my yard to their yard. I can see the bag is full. It's nice they volunteered.

Got off the bike and found a bump that shouldn't have been on my shoulder blade. Japanese beetle. About 5 minutes later I found a second one on my chest. Wouldn't have been so bad if they were outside of my shirt

Put them on a hook! Fish love 'em!! Found that out a long time ago when we ran out of bait and there were still bunches of 'gills on the nests. Even the shy biters will hit a Japanese Beetle without giving it a second thought.

I finally found about a dozen Japanese beetles on the green beans. Gathered them up and feed them to the koi.
