Put the windows in if they want to steal stuff they will break in anyway that’s why you send your Insurance Company money every year

One suggestion on the entry door. Go with a 48" wide door if you haven't already. Wide enough to run most 4=wheelers, Air Compressor's etc. if you have something in front of the slider. Not much cost difference between regular entry door. Just my $.02 (worth about .001 in today's market) Thanks, great idea.

I talked to Steve at Tree City Metal yesterday and it's been moved back again. Now around the 3rd week of October. Getting close to the best time of deer hunting. Oh well, that's life.

Pole barn will be started next week by Tree City Metal. Hopefully, it does not bother or take much time from hunting. Here is the ground prep.

Good news! Pole barn project starts next Wednesday (14th). I finally can set my vacation days for hunting. I never dreamed this past spring that the build would be during deer season. Looks like a lot of local woods hunting.

Day #1: They struggled digging the holes, but last three my son dug for them after they left. The pile is the #9 Grits for the water line. The 2-3 inch grits and down and water line on top inside the trench. Tomorrow my son and I are tapping both in and then put the rest of the grits on top. This protects from any rocks. Then start filling in. I have my son until noon.

They are doing a great job. Here it is as of Monday. To finsish it needs the other side roof, roof trim, and garage door. If they showed up today with the garage door (not on site) it will be finished today. The floor and grading around the barn is my responsibility.

The build of the pole barn is almost finished. Only a few trusses to wall supports inside. I added the boards below the siding. This is where it was not level. This winter/spring I will be filling in around the front to right side. This month the inside will be filled in to concrete level. Concrete will be this spring. Using crushed concrete as filler. I can get this almost free. 2nd best to compress at 96%. Crushed limestone is the best at 99%. 6 inch gutters will be sometime soon. I plan on running the gutter water in the pond creek. I'm going pump up pond water to two IBC containers in the barn and then gravity water the garden. I'm moving the garden from the right side to the left side of the barn. New bee hive area is behind the barn. A lot of project to keep me busy and in shape. Win-Win 24W x 40L x 12H

A little update. Filled in the barn with about 30 tons of crushed blacktop, chipped limestone, chipped concrete. Getting close to be able to pour concrete. Installed cutters yesterday and silicone the seams today. Slowly coming along. Little slower with all the rain. Next is electric and filled dirt around the outside. With all the rain that may take to spring to complete.

Did you do the fill in layers? I’m still trying to figure out what to do with my barn floor once I get the dirt level. How thick is your fill and then how thick will your concrete be?

Fill is 4 inches to about 15 inches. Next will be a compactor and maybe more fill as needed. Concrete with fiberglass at 4 inches. Grade from back to garage door will be 1/2 inch per 8 ft so the back will be 3 to 4 inches higher. This way it will drain out the front.

Just finished putting down a 2 part epoxy. Dark gray with white and black speckles. I'll post pictures tomorrow after drying. It was getting dark inside.

How did you surface prep the concrete before applying the coating?

How did you surface prep the concrete before applying the coating? 1st is degreasing the oil and cleaned dirty spots. I then etched the concrete(acid scub). That took care of what I missed. Between degreasing, cleaning, and etching I rinsed very well. Let it dry for a day and then applied the epoxy.

Did you put a floor drain in? They come in handy sometimes

I decided not. The county I live in is a pain. Adding a drain would have doubled my permit and construction costs. I had to pay $250 just for them to come out and confirm yes or no for a septic system for the drain. They said I would have to dig a trench (100 yards) to my existing septic system. I sloped the concrete to the garage door from back to front and side to middle to help out. Don't ever move to Cincinnati. Hamilton County is anti-people and small business.
