Seen a guy post on fb a pic of a bunch of beards and a statement that he has limited out in three states. Three of the beards are less than 4 inches long.
Maybe I just don't get it, but I don't see the point in shooting jakes just to limit out. That would be like bragging you limited out on squirrels while hunting a park...my thoughts only.

I know there isn't as much meat on a turkey, but maybe he is hunting for the meat more than the beard and spurs...?

I actually don't hunt turkeys for the meat. Yeah, if I didn't eat them, I wouldn't hunt them, but the main draw for me is the tail and the beard. That's why I won't shoot a hen in the fall. That and we can only archery hunt in my county because there aren't that many birds....which makes me wonder why the DNR allows a hen at all.
If he is hunting for the meat, out of state tags aren't cheap. That is some pricey turkey breasts.

Sorry but if I spend the money on out of state tag I’m going home with a legal bird no matter the caliber

Ii would shoot a jake without batting an eye. Got enough spurs, beards and tail feathers. Kids love to eat turkey at the pool parties we have. I’m in it for the meat.
