The best answer I could give is that he/she would need to be pretty hefty, like mid teens IMO. My oldest grandson is 10 and he can not cock the bow with the rope. THIS..... Crossbows are not toys, but full fledged killing machines. Its probably a good thing that the smaller kids cant cock them as they are probably the ones that need more parental guidance.. The flip side of this is us older guys. I can still cock with a rope cocking aid but for extended shooting I prefer the AcuDraw crank by far. With my foot surgery the AcuDraw is a great accessory and makes cocking so easy.

I got to shoot my new Warrior a few times yesterday, it was my first time with a crossbow. The velocity and accuracy was impressive so was the trigger. The noise was a lot louder than I expected, hopefully it can be quieted down a bit with some work. The silencers from Ten point are kinda pricey, maybe there're some cheaper alternatives on the web. The cocking process was a little awkward for me, I think I need more practice with that. It's a new experience and so far a fun one.

Yeah same here; what impressed me in particular was the 40 yd shooting. After zeroing at 30 I shot a couple at 20 a couple at 40 and a couple at 50. After that I stayed a 40 and to see how it grouped up. 20 felt so close it didn't seem like it was worth wasting my time there. Maybe it's just mental but when I was shooting 50 I kept thinking, man that arrow is taking a long time to get there and there is certainly some noise, time enough for a deer to react to. 40 felt just right, not too close to be wasting my time but not too far away. I will definitely be using it for turkey this spring.

And the crossbow saga continues! Like Woody posted, I had noticed last night that even though inventory showed 0 (zero), the note at the Plainfield store showed "limited supply." Since I was working that area today I figured I would stop in. Once again a sales associate said they were sold out. I remembered that the fellow who helped me before was named Dion so I asked for him. She was a little reluctant but I was now on a mission again. MY BUDDY WANTS THIS WICKED RIDGE WARRIOR! So she calls for Dion. Ten minutes later, and I'm walking out of the store with the $199 crossbow! I asked Dion if they had anymore back there and he said this was the last one (just in case anyone here was interested). I told Mama to eat without me and headed to my buddy's place. He had the wood burner going in the pole barn. We grabbed a few drinks and I laid my crossbow on the table and assembled his right next to it. That made for a quick, yet thorough assembly. The only thing missing was the 2 plastic hose plugs for the quiver rubber hose. I'll find those somewhere or call customer service on that. Cocked the crossbow and he fired the first shot off his newly made bench! From 20 yards, it was a little low and to the right but we'll dial it in come better weather! Once again, a great deal and my buddy is as happy as a meadowlark:

Cool HCG!!
Suggestion.. don’t rest the crossbow on a hard surface, such as the bench, to shoot. It can throw off your Shot. .

I would think only extreme cold or heat would affect it and not much at that..

That's a nice article, but ambiguous. While they say that noise should be a factor in determining what crossbow to buy, nowhere in the article do they discuss it further as it relates to decibels. I'd love to see a decibel test included in all the information they give you when touting their wares, and included in that db test, they need to say what weight arrow was used, same as they should say what weight arrow was used to get that fps reading. Crossbows are LOUD compared to vertical bows. My crossbow is 320 fps with hunting arrows. I've had deer duck far enough at 30 yds to get spined instead of a heart shot, and have hit higher than aimed many other times. I have all the string dampers, limbsavers and I even filled the stock with foam to drop the noise level. Woody, when will the mfg start to give db numbers too, or are they afraid that will push people away?

Lancaster archery had a close out on Bow Jax silencer kits for the Wicked Ridge xbows. I found this yesterday and ordered one. I saved about 8 or 10 bucks, but there was only 2 left.
