BIL got one a couple weeks ago. It's shooting 1/2" at 100 yards with the Hornady American Whitetail ammo.

I would have jumped on this but I won a Ruger American in '06 on a $10 ticket last year at the IHEA banquet. Grabbed some components I had lying around and getting less than 1 MOA at 100yds. Ruger only offered the black stock at the time so I did my own paint job on it, stuffed Wal Mart bags in the stock, adjusted the trigger, stiffened up the forearm with Bondo, Nikon scope on top. Had to have something to do over the winter. Anyone who doesn't jump on this deal is losing out. Even if you don't want or need one, a NIB rifle is a good investment for the future, even for a youth organization to raffle off to support their club. www.kygunco.com/productgroup?name=Compass

I put JDUB's mother on this -he's been wanting a 308. She's on her way to get one. I love being an enabler!

I bought a .308 myself a couple of days ago. Did I need it? No...but how do you turn down that deal.
I've shot it out to 50 yards and it's shooting 3 shot groups about penny sized. All in all, I like it to this point.
Will I hunt with it this year? I doubt it, as I haven't shot it enough to call it my first choice, but it's in the safe if I need it. If the accuracy is good @ 100 yards, then next year may be a different story...

Mounted a scope on his 308 and zeroed it about 5/8" high at 50yds. Did not have a chance to take it out to any distance but from what I saw, with the Federal Match I used that gun shoots very well; now that round is well liked by most 308's I have fired. Have not tried any hunting type ammo in it.

Good to know, got mine in a 308 as well. Couldn't pass on a deal like that.
I just put mine in the closet for now, no time to mess with it now this close to gun season.

Yeah I told JDUB to use the 243, he hasn't hit a lick on it yet. I've put 15-20 rounds through it and I still would not take it this weekend. I'm sure it would be pretty close with hunting ammo to where it is now but I don't care for hunting with ammo I have never fired from the gun, including factory.

I am waiting on a call from the Muncie store to pick up one in 308. Got delayed on the silly NICS system. Seems to happen on about 50% of my purchases.

New Compass looks promising. I put a Burris scope on it, bore sighted, went to Wilbur Wright range (just beat the rain), and shot a half box of Remington 150 grain Core-Lokt. First shots out the new rifle clustered right at 1 inch. Just a 50 yard range, but I'm happy. I'm sure that I can work up a MOA load for it.
For an under $200 rifle, after rebate, I'm well pleased.

Thompson/Center has identified a condition that may exist in some Compass rifles. We have determined that there may be some instances, depending on the height and position of the rifle and other factors, where a chambered round may fire if the firearm is dropped with the safety in the fire position. Safety is paramount to us, so we are taking this measure to further enhance performance and to meet our customer expectations, with the goal of reducing the chance of an accidental discharge should the rifle be dropped.

T/C has taken care of the problem. But this has resulted in a trigger that is heavier than advertised. Still, it's a pretty good deal on a rifle.

We just ordered 2 for our sons, both .308s. I wanted one for myself but as the old saying goes " it's only a bargain if you need it" and I didn't need it.
