My favorite most bestest day of the year... Cool enough to be comfy and no skeeters yet. Have seen 3 small bucks and 8 does. Not really interested in shooting anything so I designated a tree as my shooting tree. If a deer stands by the shooting tree I'll shoot it otherwise it gets a pass. One came close, 7 yards, but not by the shooting tree so all have passed unharmed so far. Good luck to all... There not going to get that Luckey with me

Just had what I think was a decent buck pass by at 49 yards. From what I could see through the greenery, he looked like a mainframe 10-pointer with a kicker off the left side G2.
Had a big tom turkey at 22 yards earlier, but he must have seen me trying to stand even through all leaves and started putting and circled back from whence he'd came.

In the blind this morning, so far one 3 maybe 4 point buck and four does. The buck was a little farther away and didn’t provide a good shot for the crossbow. I’m just excited to be out!

Starting to feel bad about seeing nothing look out and see 9 inch tine. Hard to pass 120ish 10pt out of the gate. 🦌

Still nice to hear so many are seeing deer - beautiful morning, sure wish I could be out there. Enjoying reading everyone's posts.

Congrats Squirrelgravy and daughter! I saw 9 does and fawns in the first hour of daylight. I set my stand up on the wrong side of a crossing point. They were eye level with me at 20 yards. Not good! I never got a shot close enough for my 55 year old bow. I need to move my stand to the uphill side of the crossing.

Someone added Eastern Timber rattler skins to the limbs along the way.

Slow motion since seeing 2 doe's this morning. Already got a 20/30 min nap in the blind. Already ate my 2 pb&j sammiches so I'll sit as long as I can and see what the rest of the day brings.

Haha all my food was gone by 10am, I'm blaming it on the heavey crossbow and the walk in. . Beautiful moring in deed, love the temps, glad I had packed my jacket and beanie got cold enough sitting still. Called it quits at 11 only planned half day due to kids and chores, the 2 does never came back through and didn't have anything in tow. The Spot I wanted to go had too many trucks parked, so I went to plan b this morning, over the summer they did logging in plan b as opposed to plan A from last seaon. My trail familiarity was jogged since they were running a bulldozer and semis back there over the summer. Just hope they are done for the year... last year they were logging till gun season.

Dang, Wes, you're pretty hardcore to do an all-day sit on October 1! I left the woods this morning at 10:30 AM and will probably go back out at 4:30 PM.

Seen 4 total this morning. Skinny doe with fawn, and 2 yearlings at 5-10yds. Lots of squirrels. Went back and got the 22 after deer hunting and went 1 for 5 on bushytails. Terrible! Lol

My October hunting is limited due to the boy playing football so temperatures permitting I gotta make the most of it on the days I can get out.

I ended up having a young 6 point try to commit suicide about 9:15.
I went to the boy child's stand in hopes of catching the doe from last year that keeps looking at the stand every time she goes through. I was set up to see her before she saw me and the buck came in from behind me.
I did get pictures and a 3 minute video and I was nice enough to send the pictures to my brother on the other side of the woods and my son at home asleep. :-)

I just settled in a few minutes ago. Bumped one on the way in. There's standing corn across the road and I haven't gotten many on camera this year, so don't expect to see a ton of deer tonight. But it is definitely good to be out.
I'm about 20 yards from a persimmon tree that I shot a 10 pt on October 4th 2 years ago, so you never know what might happen.

Leaves are a lot thinner this year than most openers. I'd like to see some moisture, but it is nice to be able to see a little ways into the woods.
