Just got home from work, and poof, lights out, again. Have been fighting this for the 14yrs I lived here. Finally bought a big generator 7yrs ago. I remember, because wife was pregnant with junior, it was hot, and she was miserable. I had an old small generator prior, but it was for the fridge/freezers one light only. Now we live large, like nothing has changed. Except its not an auto job. Still got to roll it out, flip the main breaker, hook up, and fire her up. No big deal, cant really swing a Generac. Although it would be nice with as many outages as we have. Typically 5-10 a year, sometimes more, and some less. Some 4-5hrs, some 3-5 days. No rhyme or reason.

Sounds like perhaps your provider needs to do a little line maintenance or tree clearing

Probably have more blackouts now than when I moved here. Lol. What's funny is, we are the only ones that have a generator in the proximity. We have had several homes built around us, the goody two shoe people, but no lights on. I can only imagine their whining when it happens. Lol

That would be aggravating. REMC in Dectur county used to go out every time it stormed during the 90's.

Has happened a couple times since starting this thread. Its only a nuisance when its an extended time or the weather is an issue. Not often we are out in the winter, so with no yard work, I dont keep much gas on hand. I just got back from filling all the jugs just in case this goes longer than they are saying, which is another 3 hrs from now.

Been much better for several years now. This is a problem that can be greatly improved - they just need to do the work.

What causes the outages is it tree limbs falling or is it the wires swaying in heavy wind.
