Trailcam caught this deer earlier this month. A closeup of her face looked fine but her body looks a little mangey. What do y'all think?

Could she have gotten hit by a car and that's road rash? That's just a wild guess as I've never seen anything like that.

Not uncommon during the summer months. Deer shed hair when it's hot and can rub quite a bit off on their daily travels. Maybe rubbing against fence, tree limbs, briars....
I had a buck on camera a couple years ago in July that I didn't think would live through August. I had him on camera again in December and he looked fantastic.

I wondered if she might just be ahead of the other deer, who don't seem to be shedding yet. Her face did not seem to betray any ill health.

Almost looks self inflicted...Pawing with its rear hoove by the front shoulder. Looks like it's a gnawing at its hind quarter by the looks of the two oval patches... Coukd it be from a bad case of the ticks?
Great crisp pictures... What series is the trail camera?

The body shot is actually a little less clear because I cropped it. It retails for around $100. Got it this year.

His knees and lower chest were nothing but hairless scar tissue! found a deer pic so grotesque i couldn't believe it and thought was motion blur. The video of it isn't blurry and confirmed my worst fears that it had survived MVA.

First guess is the deer is shedding. Second guess is it has the mange.
