My son came up to hunt this AM. Score 2 for Maddog and 2 for Maddog's Son. Total of 4 for team #1 LCB! I thought we were going to give everyone a month's head start???

Here's one for ya. Don't know if I should claim it or not. Saw a couple of them up a tree, and took a shot at one. I hit it, but missed the head, and he didn't drop. I eased closer in, and I spotted him in the scope. I shot, and he pitched over backwards and landed upside down in the crotch of a tree, deader than a hammer.... I even shot one more time to see if I could dislodge him, no dice. So he's still in the tree 35 ft. up. Here's a pic, and it you look close you can see his head and front feet sticking up in the air. I hate it when that happens. I've gone so far as to come back with a ladder and have even thought of cutting the tree down.

After work hunting time is getting shorter as daylight fades but I did pull down three yesterday & two today. They are looking to hire two more people at work so I hope I will start getting weekends off. So add another 5 to team #3 The Squirrel Squad.

I've used a full choke 12 gauge several times to dislodge them, even though I know beforehand they won't be edible. I just can't stand leaving them up there after all the work (better known as pleasure) of getting a shot at them.

Went out after work, & it was hot/humid. I can't believe how we get used to the cooler weather so fast. It wasn't but a week or two ago I was out hunting in a sweat shirt, it hit 91° today & the humidity was ^^^. My Thermacell was working good but the mosquitos were still swarming my head I didn't get bit thow. I was about to give up when I heard a noise & saw this guy sneaking out a limb of a Hickory tree. With that fur coat I was surprised he was out, that's ok he didn't have to wear it much longer. So it is only one for me today, add 1 to my total on The Squirrel Squad.

I dislodged one like me that with the 357Max rifle; wasn't really usable afterwards but I did get it down!

Add five to Team 4 for this morning. Went to a private woods as not to interfere with any youth deer hunters on public ground. 3 fox and two grays with the Marlin Mach 2. Personal total should be 30 now.

Well, I'm slowly getting out on a few more hunts. Add 6 to Team 4. The cheap ole Hatfield 410 hasn't failed me yet! Probably won't put too many more down for awhile with deer coming on. As a sidebar, I've discovered a really easy and delicious way to eat squirrel. I just call it Lazy Man Chow Mein! Here goes. Crock pot the pieces overnight on low with a cup of water and Lipton soup mix, Pull the meat off the bone and cut into bite size bits and smaller. Then I call China King and order some pork chop suey or chow mein. And I add my squirrel and add soy sauce and salt to taste. Mix it all up and chow down, I told ya it was the lazy man way!
