Howdy? I am looking for a deer hunting buddy. I am willing to travel anywhere in the state to hunt deer. Shoot me a message if interested.

I really couldn't tell you because I never have had a good hunting buddy. I have had some really bad ones. So it's mostly on my own now.

My hunting buddy is now one of my 2 closest friends. We met on another forum (which no longer exists)while I was deployed and trying to figure out a way to hunt elk on my return. Once I got back we spoke on the phone and then, sight unseen, he invited into his elk camp (including an overnight stay at his home the night prior to leaving). As fellow Vets we had a lot in common and it was easy from the start. He has always been generous with every aspect of hunting in hopes that the whole camp is successful. Lately I have been able to get us both on a couple of disabled vet hunts together and hope I am even a fraction as giving as he has been to me. All it takes is one call from either of us and the other is on his way

Sorry for anyone's loss of their hunting buddies. Only have had one hunting buddy besides family. Now I have got a few hunting buddies from meeting on a couple forums and glad I did. Even have two hunting buddies from across the pond.

A good hunting buddy is one who leaves what happens during the hunt in the field. He doesn't try to pound his chest and criticize the other hunters in the group due to self esteem problems. If he wants to recount the hunt on this forum, he does it accurately with no self serving bs. I guess it is just a matter of hunting with an intelligent, mature buddy who always has your back.....

We just passed the one year anniversary of my wife's uncle passing away. I didn't start hunting until I was about 30, and he really helped me and taught me a lot about hunting. He opened up his properties to me,taught me how and where to hang a stand, helped track the blood trails that went on and on and then disappeared, taught me how to butcher a deer, and was always excited when someone got a deer - even if he didn't.

I expect a good hunting buddy to be...

In my opinion, one that loves the hunting experience more than experiencing hunting. The "hunt" ends with a shot, smiles, and handshakes, but the hunting experience never ends. To me, a good hunting buddy is one that is keeping you amped up during the off-season, asking if you want to shoot, sending articles on food plots, wanting any excuse to get back into the woods. A good hunting buddy values his own success but values the successes of his family and friends just the same. But, most of all, I don't think a good hunting buddy cares about success all that much at all. If there is anything I have learned from grinding to find places to hunt and, more often than not, coming up empty handed, it is that I am not in this because I'm good at this. I'm in this because I love meeting new people and sharing conversations about a mutual passion that most won't ever understand. I'm in this because the feeling I have drinking a cup of coffee in the early AM on the way to meet up with someone to hunt as my dog anxiously whines in the back will never be changed by the events that unfold throughout the hunt itself.

We are all forced to when going to work or in some cases family. Just like Indy says...enjoy the drink of coffee on an early morning and go hunt. If you are hunting with me...expect to be made fun of. I fully expect it back. Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story!
