I've had too much coffee today. My mind is like a waterfall with thoughts rushing over it.
Names were certainly significant in biblical days, but couldn't tell you about today.
I don't like my name. Dennis is a lover of fine wines. Well, I sure do like a fine wine, but it's been years since I've had some. What I like is expensive, and if I can't have what I like, I'd rather not have it at all. Dennis??? What was my mom thinking??? It must have been Dennis the minnis, and some probably think it fits.
I like Jon or John, and probably from my admiration of the biblical Johns, not that I can compare in the slightest to these greatly inspired men. God has given me a voice to cry out from the wilderness though, or from my office. It currently looks like a wilderness. It's more like crying out from the wilderness of the Internet abyss ...preparing the way of the Lord's return.
What does your name mean?
Do you like it?
Does it fit?
Does God care what our names are today? I'll tell you a true story that I don't begin to expect you to believe.
When my wife was pregnant with our daughter, we like most tossed around names. We liked Brianne and Sarah and didn't know which one we would name her even when we drove to the hospital. When she popped out, the nurses immediately gave her to the respiratory therapist, and I went up to see my wife. As I did, the Lord says to me as clearly as I hear anyone, "Sarah." The rest is history.
So, what does your name mean? I can think of a few for woody.
