I read the attached article today about doctor-assisted suicide, which has been legalized in Canada. There are many topics that I haven't given much thought to, and this is one of them. Often, until I'm forced to take a position, I won't think much about it. This isn't necessarily a good thing; maybe I'm a little lazy??? When thinking about different experiences in my life, there are times when I may have had different thoughts on the issue. Obviously, I think life is a precious gift and the instinct to survive has been purposely implanted in us from our beginning. Today, I have to wonder how much we are actually delaying death instead of prolonging life. Some might see this as a case by case issue rather than a something that could be blanket covered. Some will not see it as an individual issue either, but absolutely shouldn't be considered in any case. The article also speaks of including the mentally ill. Personally, I do not see how any mentally ill person should be making life decisions. If one desires suicide, one need professional help or divine healing. I do not believe that a truly born again person will commit suicide, because God will provide a way out. They can most certainly have these thoughts, but God says that he will not allow us to be tempted beyond our control. This is a promise that he has given us and I have found it to be true. I do have a friend who had colon cancer. After 5 years of fighting it with multiple surgeries, she died at 51 years of age. Unless God divinely healed her, she was going to die; it was just a matter of time, and 5 years was very good for the stage that it was identified in her. We never know when God is going to heal someone. We do not know what God has planned for any individual. I would not consider it suicide or even morally for one suffering from a fatal disease to just let it run its course without treatment. Some might think differently. Obviously, this issue is mostly driven by the high cost of health care in our final days, months or years, but it will be promoted by the ideology of choice. Any thoughts? www.prophecynewswatch.com/article.cfm?recent_news_id=1452

My wife's grandmother had a terminal illness and was mentally incapacitated. Her doctor recommended that they stop all palatable care and let her die. They stopped giving her IV's and stopped the feeding tube. It took almost 4 days of terrible suffering before she finally passed away. It was the most horrible thing I have ever seen in my life. I would not treat an animal that way. I can't understand how we let humans go through that. After witnessing that my views on human euthanasia have changed.

For me, I want them to stop feeding me and pump me full of narcotics until my heart stops.
Opening this box can be dangerous. Now that we have Obamacare it's difficult, if not impossible, to take it away even though healthcare is in no way the purpose of our government. Once it starts, where does it end?
It will lead to, but naysayers will laugh, a maximum life span. This generation thinks much about themselves and little for others. Their thoughts and methods of caring for the elderly will be different than the now generation. Why do I think this? It's all about money. They will think about what they can do with all their money that is spent on taking care of these old worthless people. If the world lasts long enough they will kill off their elderly.
When the population needs to decrease, I'm thinking they will take it upon themselves to decide who goes and who stays. Who is costing them the most and getting little from in return.

Ouch... we think much about ourselves? We were given a world and infrastructure that has been used and abused. We have been taught that we all deserve a piece of the pie. We didn't come up with these ideas on our own. Oh, we also inherited massive national debt. A crumbling social security, insurance and retirement system. Then the recession hit and most jobs created for us since that and Obamacare (which wasn't drafted by millennials) have been part time jobs. The blame for this doesn't lay on the shoulders of the Millennials.

The blame for this doesn't lay on the shoulders of the Millennials. Not saying the youth created it. Saying they will not keep paying for the elderly ...get it. Also, there are exceptions, not all of this young generation fits the stereotype. I sure do appreciate you working hard and paying your taxes to support me. They gave my money away long ago; they're giving me yours now.

Well I know we don't all fit into the stereotype but it helps me to say that millennials are a product of our raising. We just as the generations before us are trying to survive the best way we know how. People call us the participation trophy generation also but remember we weren't the ones handing those trophies out. As far as we will not keep paying for the elderly goes America has lost its sense of family so that may be so and if we do choose genocide as a means to keep our cost down then who do you suggest we take out if not the elderly?

So you are saying we won't be able to take out the elderly because the boomers will take themselves out???
