I use a lantern unit when I sit (rest) on my back patio. Works great. Covers the area for the wife and I.

Man that's what I need for my back deck. My wooden deck sits about 2 ft. above the ground and I ran a drain line from a downspout under the deck to another drain that I added concrete around the entrance of the 4" flexible pipe. I ran the pipe out into the yard and then connected it to an 8" diameter drain pipe that carry's water under the ground into my next door neighbors yard. He did the same thing and so did the next two neighbors. But the 8" pipe has a big opening in my yard that catch water. Mosquitos must be breeding in these pipes as they come up from under the deck and eat me alive. So I need a way to kill those mosquitoes in the pipes. I use mosquito larvacide tablets and have to put them in after ever big rain. If I forget to add the tablets to the entrances to the pipes the mosquitos can carry me away in my lawn chair. I hate spraying myself with Deet or other insect repellants but it beats getting West Nile or any of the other diseases carried by these pesky mosquitos. The alternative is using the devises that put insect repellant into a mist and into the air around us. Just don't breath too many of the fumes.

Get one moose1am..
I've been on one canister all summer..and use the cheap mats from eBay.
It is a LOT cheaper way of keeping skeeters off you than the regular ThermaCell units..

I will never never ever buy a thermocell again . I bought one a few years ago along with new cartridges and had it running for an hour and the skeeters ate me alive as well as my sister and oldest brother. I sat in the middle with the thermocell . We were sitting on chairs in the cut grass watching Fireworks. We finally had enough of being a buffet , So I pulled out the tried and true spray bottle of OFF and we were left alone after that .

In fact I ended up giving it away to a forum member from a different site . He asked why I was giving it away and I told him why . Not to sure if he ever used it .

I finally got one this year. Last weekend the skeeters were eating on me while in stand. I pulled it out and thought it was lit. Set it behind me and kept getting bit. After 30 min I realized I did not actually light the unit. Once it was confirmed to be lit...no more bites

I use a lantern type on my back patio and yes, it works great. It does take a few plus minutes to get going and light to no breeze. Perfect for the evening time. I need to get a few more lantern types for party evenings.

Mine works great for me. I have started refilling my butane cartridges and will refill my own pads once I run out of what I have on hand. It's much cheaper than buying new
Mossberg, The only thing I can think of is somehow you got a defective unit or pad.

My son is a mosquito magnet and it keeps them away.

I hated to click it after being in the stand for 1/2 hr. but I did and the skeeters went away. About an hr later I missed a doe who busted me clicking the safety off on the x-bow not 10 min after I clicked the thermacell. She couldn't resist coming back to the food plot I guess.

I'm a believer, I have 5 units. I keep one in each truck, one in my hound box, each with 4-5 bottles of fuel and a box of pads. The rest I keep in my garage in a cabinet with the rest of the refills. In the spring and summer while running dogs it is as important as having my tracking system with. Great for early September bear hunting as well. I don't waist fuel on windy days.
