My boss set me up with a very nice 1970's Mitchell reel on a Mitchell rod. Super sharp looking and easily my nicest and now favorite fishing pole. Can't wait to try it out tomorrow evening.

Had a few of those growing up. Really liked the small sized. Think there are 1 or 2 still in the garage. I know dad still uses one of his

As I remember, the "300" was a popular model.

It looks like a 300 to me. I had a 300A many years ago. It seemed to wear out bail springs but otherwise was a good spinning reel. Garcia-Mitchell sent me a bag of springs so I could keep the reel in use.

My buddy Mad-Dog had a Mitchell 300. We fished about every chance we could all summer long. I can still hear the sound that reel made. Don't think there was a way to make it silent without the reel going into "forward-reverse" mode. My 300A made a completely different sound.
Does your 300 make a humming/buzzing sound when you turn the handle?

For an ultralight, the 408 was good too. The 300's were really nice!

Good looking old set up.
I've got a 300 I purchased as my first rod/reel combo back in the mid 90s. Still have it and use it to this day!
