There is a lot of public places in Bama to hunt. I killed 19 last year off hunting club I belong to 29 the year before that. Just do some research.

No openings. Members r suppose to shoot every hog they see but they dont. It screws up deer hunting. So when I go down for turkey season I shoot them in evenings. Alabamahogcontrol.com check out this guy he kills lots of hogs down there.

If you could get down there a lot, I think a club would be the way to go. I even see some clubs post up hog only memberships, with full access to the club outside of deer and turkey seasons, for much lower dues.
I can't commit enough time to hog hunting to make a club membership worthwhile, so I just hunt public when I go down to Alabama. Most public land in the south holds a few hogs, but you really have to work for them.

JUst do your homework. I know one public place right now that is so over run with hogs they give you a free buck tag in you kill X amount. The game warden killed over 300 last year just driving around patroling.

Man wes, you have the fever! It's nice having relatively new hunters on here to ask questions. These guys need guys like you to keep them sharp. Seven thousand of my post have been questions, and 6999 of them were stupid ones. That one good question was when I stayed at a Holiday Inn Suite.
When I run out of projects around the house, I expect my wife to ask me, "Aren't there any critters you can go hunt?" ...just to get me out of the house.
If I ever do get finished with the house or get enough money to pay someone to do it, I think I will look for more critters to hunt.

I want to experience and try as many different types of animals as I possibly can. If keeping guys around here sharp is my purpose for being here then I'm more than happy to do it.

Nope not baloney, I am not a liar and dont make up crap. They have hog traps at this place too that you can use you just have to provide the bait. What I did was I took 2 weeks and drove and checked out public places from from South Carolina down to Mississippi one summer.

I just found it in less than a minute on internet. If you trap 20 hogs anytime from August to August you get a free buck tag taking you from 2 to 3 tags.

Sorry to ruffle your feathers. I've done a lot of research as well, and to me it seems that the southern states are split into 2 camps.. those that want to ban hog hunting and those that want to profit from it. I prefer the latter, since the hogs aren't going anywhere, and the license dollars can be used to at least offset their destruction to the habitat somewhat. Before I said baloney, I did a lot of Google searching, specifically at places like military bases and anywhere else that I thought might have the authority to set their own bag limits or "give" out tags. I still haven't turned anything up, so I'll eat the crow as soon as I'm shown different. If the hogs are really that big of a problem on the public ground anyway, it wouldn't be a big secret to let out.
