I'm getting close to getting a scope for the .270 Remington 760 Wingmaster I'm getting from my father. This is my first rifle and I had went online to look at rings and see a wide variety of prices and types. Any suggestions on what I should get?

You will need a base too. Ring height will depend on the scope you use. I have Leopold rings with a Weaver base on my Marlin .44 mag and the have held zero well.

Personally? I've moved on from less expensive rings. I've had cross bolts break when shooting at the bench..
I've switched to either Leupold Dual Dovetail rings or Burris Signature "Z" rings with the plastic inserts, also dual dovetail. I'd say Badger Ordinance or Nightforce, but you don't need that level of strength.
Whatever rings you end up with make sure that they are lined up and lapping them wouldn't be a bad idea. Follow the mfg. specs for tightening the screws, degrease them first and use blue Loctite on both base and ring screws. Check for proper action function after installing the base and before you install the rings to the base. I've run across guns where a too long base screw stopped the bolt from closing all the way, or a too long screw left the base loose...

In general, I would agree with most of what you said, but in the case of Warne rings.....
From Warne's site....

Not really pertaining to the original post, but I will add this.. I will be the fly in the ointment I guess. I am a Warne ring and base fan. But, I recently had 3 failures to hold scopes with them. All large and heavy 30mm tube scopes. Two were on Encores, one with 300wm, other on 358win. Last on smokeless mz, all serious recoilers. First two are being helped with muzzle brakes, all now have Burris XTR 6 screw rings. Time will tell if they work.

I've used Warne rings on everything up to and including slug guns (with 3-9x40 scopes w/1" tubes), but I've never used them with the rifles and scopes you are talking about. I have a buddy who mounted a Nikon Monarch Gold 2.5-10x50 scope w/a 30mm tube with Leupold qrw 30mm rings on a slug gun and the metal insert in the rings bent over time from the recoil. Crazy...

I have been known to use 3 or 4 rings on guns with a reputation for being hard on scopes; not uncommon thing to do in the HPR type handguns
