Why don't people hunt turkey from tree stands?

Sarah got her turkey from the hilton. She didn't have any problem knocking it down without blowing off the tail feathers.
Run and gun is so much fun, but I've done my last chase. I don't mind shooting from a stand, but I can't use my injured bird decoy from a stand.
With just having 10ac, there's not run and gun. They're either on my land or not. If they are on it, they'll hear my call. Now getting them in is another issue.

A lot of fall turkeys are taken by deer hunters from stands so it can be done. Deerkey hunting.

They are killable from a treestand. I've killed a fall gobbler with my crossbow out of a treestand.
They will pick you out quicker in the treestand than a blind. even if you are fully camouflaged and not moving.
Turkeys learn early in life to expect death from above ..hawks and owls..

The hilton provides a lot of cover; he didn't have a clue what hit him.
I've never hunting one from a regular stand. I sure would like to get a fall bird though.

I don't like treestands because I'm scared of heights but I've always been curious about why people don't really hunt turkey from treestands

You don't know what scared is. LOL
I thought I was going to have to call the fire department to get me off the roof. It was paralyzing.

Just easier to make a move on one if you need to.

I've ambushed several fall birds from my Summit tree stand. I don't "hunt" them. I just sometimes see them while deer hunting. If it looks promising then I come prepared next time.
People don't recognize just how OCD turkeys really are. If nothing breaks the pattern they'll do exactly the same thing every single day nearly to stepping in their old foot prints until they get killed or the food is gone. When they find food it's a new rut, er, routine.
I've seen flocks I've shot one out of, gather up again and come right back to the same food source 30 minutes after you just shotgunned the crap out of one. If you get them patterned and know what they are eating you own them all.
Look for a low wet spot that stays wet, muddy, and buggy early in the spring. Watch for butterflies using it will tell you right away if it's got what a turkey wants. If there are turkey tracks in that then likely they come there sometime every day and it will be the same time over and over and over. Just sit there and ambush them if that's your thing, you won't even need to make a call.
In the fall watch the edges of hay fields when the grass is in full seed and about head high to a turkey. They will walk all around the edge of that field until they have their gut packed full of those seeds, just mouthing the stem and pulling it through their beak like unzipping the seeds right off the stem and down the pipe. They'll make a path just like a deer trail that time of year if there's not one there already they can use.

I hunt them in the fall in shotgun season. Really don't know anyone other than me who goes out just to hunt a fall bird. Most are opportunistic turkey hunters in the fall season. I do enjoy it and they are just as vocal or more so in the fall. Just less gobbling. They come to the decoy more easily as well. Very rarely do I use treestands anymore. I like the challenge of on the ground concealment and right on their level. Just wouldn't feel right to hunt from a elevated stand to hunt turkeys to me.

I'm in the southern most county that is archery only in the fall. Turkeys are a target if they come past the treestand I'm sitting in looking for deer.
