I've fished that area hard for last 20 years. Most all of the pits down there hold some decent fish. Seems like I find a new one every year that surprises me. You just have to keep moving and looking until you find some fish.
Many of the pits are gin clear which adds to the challenge. In those cases, I like to stay back some distance so the boat doesn't spook fish. Also like to use the clear adjustabubble bobbers in these conditions rather than an orange one. Put a minnow under one with no weight so it can swim freely for crappie. A tiny sinking spider jig tipped with a beemoth and no sinker for a slow drop is also pretty effective.
I think you are going to be a bit late for the bluegill spawn, they were going pretty good last week, but you still should be able to catch some fish. I think the larger deeper pits will be your best bet now that it has gotten warmer. The small ones will also be pretty weed choked by now. Good luck.

Yes, most of those pits have channel cats and some real nice ones too. Check out Benefil lake at south end of Greene Sullivan park. It's just a real pretty lake to fish, crystal clear water and you can generally drag a few nice bluegill out of it.
