Woodmaster is into birds but they are non-responsive..
His last text..
"Heard a bird by the ridge. Snuck up to the barn. 4 gobblers on the west end of the field. I snuck around & got within 200 yards. Started calling.....
They started easing my way....ended up too far out and went thru the cut on the ditch going away..."

No turkeys heard or seen tonight. A few deer have come through. I'm nestled in for the night now. Hopefully there will be some action in the morning.

Got here late and busted one off the roost. Then 10 mins or so later had multiple birds gobbling on the neighbors. Think they are with hens.

So I guess my hunt really starts from yesterday when I started my vacation. I found myself again in Pulaski County at my lease in one of my blinds that were set up three weeks ago. At that time the Winterwheat was about 9 inches tall, unfortunately by yesterday it had grown to almost 2 feet tall! I found myself in 20+ mile an hour winds with Winterwheat that was so tall you could hardly even see the decoys. I was fortunate enough to see two big toms come out of the woods and make their way across the field. I really wanted to sit in the blind and take a turkey with my bow but you have to roll with the punches.
This morning I decided to go into the woods to hopefully get a little closer to wherer they were hopefully roosting though I was unsure of exactly where. Right at daybreak I tried a couple of clucks and found myself within 100 yards of five different toms now gobbling their heads off.
After they flew down it took a while for them to group up a but eventually they started heading my way. Before I knew it they were closing the distance. I'm a firm believer in not over calling so I think that is why they were looking so frantically.
Three of them hung out a little further. But two of them closed the distance to within 20 yards.
Picked out the big guy and let him have it ....
28# 11-3/4" beard NO SPURS🤔 Like they were never even started kind of weird but kind of cool

Very nice! Congratulations! I did what you did with those big bills, but with two quarters.

It just got wild.. I had two gobblers come into the field 15 yards from me. I had been calling several times about ten minutes before. They headed straight for the Avian X Jake decoy. I had to wait until they separated and shot one. They other one didn't leave but started flogging my Jake decoy .. I let him do that awhile but then I thought he might puncture it. Plus my bird started flopping again so I thought I'd better go get him.. I finally got out and ran him off . He went back the way he came.... Two year old bird but a nice beard.. I got a video of the second bird posturing after flogging my decoy. I'll download it later.. That bird's gold wing tips are gorgeous!

Met, It's the prettiest bird I've ever killed.. If I had room I would have mounted it. As it is he will end up as a stuffer decoy next year..

I'm set up for tomorrow morning to about 9:30am . Then heading to Hanover for last lacrosse game. The 5yr old with limping leg was in my back yard tonight and roosted across the street. He will fly out and cross my yard. I will have my decoy out and one or two calls. There is a nice 2 or 3 yrold with him tonight and will take one of the two if all works out.

Pretty sure I know where you are. Do you know where the turkeys are? So far all I've called in is other hunters. There is plenty of sign though. Washington county. Called in 6 longbeard and heard no less than 20 separate gobblers on the farm we hunt.

Reference point. 20ga 870 choked with a Remington factory super full shooting longbeard 6's at 8 steps. You best be on. It'll put a slug hole through the base of the neck.

Sitting in a pole barn with decoys in field in front of me. Rain just started, but I heard one gobbling on roost a few hundred yards away. I can't hunt next week so figured I'd give it a shot this morning.
