A vulture picking around where my bird went down. I'll bet he is thinking ," I know there was a dead thing here earlier!"

It's pretty windy out now so maybe a good time to do some stalking. Besides some gobbling early this morning it's been dead. The closest I've come to seeing a turkey has been a ham sammich and a nap lol

Only one gobble this morning none on the roost. One hen flew into the field at 620a and that was it for about an hour. She walked by me and brought back 16 more! 2 toms 5 jakes and the rest hens. They paid no attention to my decoy or calling. They would look up but kept going to other end of field. Tough watching that many birds and they are just outta range. Most of the birds went into the next field but the two toms kept an eye on my decoy and strutted around. The rest of them left but the two toms started coming back! Gobbling strutting and coming in fast on the one place Its hard to shoot. They got to within 30 yards so I stuck the gun out the back of blind on into the window that I could just make a shot out of and dropped him. Double beard 11 and 6 inch. 24 pounds. Inch spurs. Great morning.

I'm in middle of long loop on HNF. No gobbles yet. Some distant shots. I had one tom come strutting to my calling, I think. He was about 100 yards out through some real open woods, but he knew something was wrong and drifted away.

My season ended at 8:05. Slow start with nothing gobbling. Then at 7:30 a single gobble. He answered my call instantly. The a double gobble at half the distance of the first. I made a couple purrs and a cluck. A thundering gobble close. A few minutes later he came into a opening. 35 yards, boom, flop. 23.5 pounds, 10.5 beard, 1 inch and a 1 1/16 spurs.

I think my birds went back to jon snow's place. Checked my cams and they have not been to my place in a week and very little over the Last few weeks. Did have some gobbling early this morning. I'm at home for some lunch and a visit with the wife I'll be back at it in a couple hours.

Probably the prettiest bird that I've killed. It had a lot of red on him...

Opening Day 2017' Clay County Indiana 7:11am 24lbs. 3 oz. 11 3/4 inch beard 1 1/4 inch spurs Had been seeing this gobbler for the past few weeks on a couple of scouting trips on good friends property (see last two pics). Always strutting and with a few hens each time I saw him in the early morning hours. Then today as luck would have it, he came in alone and all he did was strut and drum the entire way up to my Avian feeding hen decoy right off the roost! I gave him a couple of soft tree yelps from my ole trusty slate call and didn't call any more after that. I heard him fly off the roost and land about 200 yards into the freshly planted field in front of me and then he closed the distance in a big strutting hurry to a nice 50 yards from the edge of the field set up! Never gobbled on the roost or while moving to the decoy! One of my more quicker and very fun hunts for sure!

Woodmaster had a couple Jake THUGS come in and whip up on his decoy. He finally shooed them away.
He has had one or two birds gobbling pretty close. Probably just a matter of time before he seals the deal.. He is an all day hunter..

I've got about 1.5 hours free, so I've got the decoys and blind set up right behind the house. Not expecting much but might as well be here as on the couch.

I've got one gobbling about 127 1/2 yards behind me. He would be about 118 3/4 yards from Woodmaster. Woodmaster has a clucking hen on the field so he is letting her do the calling... Are you sure on 127.5 and 118.75 yards ??
