Good luck to all the kids this weekend! With all the bickering over deer numbers we have forgotten the season starts Saturday.

JDUB can't go 'till Sunday morning - which with the weather may not be much of an issue. Instead of my place with a gun he wants to take a run at a spot in Brown Co. with the bow - works for me.

If he gets one with a bow, you have to share the story/pictures! I'll see if I can get him on here to do it if he happens to take one. He and a friend have a competition going so it's likely going to have to be a decent Tom or he will pass it.

Looks like it's going to be a wet one down here. Good thing is that there won't be a baseball game at 9:00.

With all the rain we are supposed to get tomorrow I don't know if we will go or not. Leaving it all up to him. It's his hunt. Not forcing anything on him. Have a blind we can sit in so we shall see. Like to get one to gobble right here by the camper so we don't have to go far. We are surrounded by HNF.

Just about have everything packed up for an early start tomorrow for me and the boy. I'll be hitting the sack soon to get a good nights rest. Best of luck to everyone and their children!

The rain held off long enough for the neighbors to shoot a bird and proceed to drive up and down the lane, so that one of the other birds gobbling would not come out into the field.
I thought the stupidity of this property ended when the previous owner died. Looks like it has just gotten worse. People amaze me.

We had one come into a field and stay for over an hour. The hens finally moved off and he went to the wood line and worked our way. Started heading our direction then just stopped and looked at the decoys. He just stared for ten minutes. Finally decided he didn't want to mess with it and headed back into the woods. He got to about 60 yards but just wouldn't commit. Still a very fun morning with my son. That's the first turkey we have ever worked together.

Tomorrow is supposed to be nice, good luck Sunday. As far as neighbors go I'll trade you mine, he uses youth season to poach one for himself.

Well had a bunch of gobbling as day broke and then around 8:45 am he decided to come out in the field and strut for a bit. Tried working him in with the call but wouldn't come any closer than 60 - 70 yds. Still a great morning in the field with the boy.

We hunted salamonie and didn't hear a single gobble or gunshot all morning. Another disappointing hunt there. Really wish they would do something to improve the hunting there and mississinewa. Otherwise it was still great to get out and basically go hiking with the kid for a few hours and get them out in the woods.

I'm kinda wondering if my jake decoy or my calling scared him off because when I started calling he took off back into the woods

Grandson and I were at Winamac. Only heard birds at sunrise. Went real quiet after that. We lasted about 4.5 hours and called it a day. Worked two spots. Real disappointed after our scouting but we will be back tomorrow. Weather was decent up north. Probably 50 degrees when we left and no rain. Tomorrow has a great weather forecast.

They have gone silent. Waiting in anticipation! Junior is awake, and out of patience already. I said if no action early at flydown, we need to wait for them to come looking. My best luck has been 9-noon. He aint buying it. I told him to go back to sleep!!!
