Some days like today, are just rough. And then I get home and find we received a letter from the 6 year old child my wife and I sponsor from Uganda. We made the decision before we got married that we would sponsor a Compassion child and have done so to this date. Saviour says in his letter, Thank you for your letter and gift. I was happy and my Mom cried so we can have water and rice for me and my sisters. Reality hit me tonight as I read that. "Water and rice?!" Made his Mom cry?! He has no father. Wow, am I blessed! Not such a rough day after all.

Makes one really stop and think doesn't it?
We too have sponsored Compassion children over the years. A great organization...

So true. No matter how bad a day I had or think I try to think about the good things I have. This story puts it all in perspective.

Thanks for posting. I wish reminders like these were automatic. We get bogged down by really small stuff sometimes especially when you compare to what others have to deal with

It just takes one trip outside the US to see how most of the world lives. Heck, I felt sorry for the people living in England, but compared to most of the world the least of us is rich.
I had a disappointing experience with a similar organization; it was World something maybe Vision. We decided to sponsor a child. We sent and received letters from the child; it seemed nice. Six months later, we were notified that we didn't have the child we had been corresponding with; she was already sponsored. Where had my money be going, and who had we really been corresponding with?
Giving comes easy for me by the Grace of God, but I never sent them another check. LOTS AND LOTS of children and families suffering here.

It's sad that there are some scams and less than worthy organizations out there. We've been with Compassion for 37 years and never had any issues!
