Perfecty legal so to each his own.... Its legal Hunting!
The person that shoots the person should be locked up for man slaughter! Aiming a gun and pulling the trigger is in no way a accident!

I would love to do it, and just might sometime, but wouldn't think about it on public land. Heck, I wouldn't want to use my Haint gobble call on public land.

100% legal However this tactic violates a long held safety rule of turkey hunting. Our own DNR has this on their website right now... www.in.gov/dnr/fishwild/2710.htm Safety Rules for Turkey HuntingSelect a calling position where you can see for at least 50 yards in all directions and where you are protected from the backside. Whistle or shout to alert approaching hunters of your position. Never wave or stand up. Never sneak in on a turkey or use a gobbler call near other hunters. Never crowd another hunter working a bird. Never shoot at sound or movement. Use a flashlight when walking in the dark. Be aware of turkey "fever" and its prevention. Disregard peer pressure to bag a bird. Be extremely careful using turkey decoys. Do not wear red, white, or blue outer wear or exposed inner clothing. Make sure your headnet doesn't obscure your vision. Don't assume you are the only hunter in the area. Be certain of a companion's location. Know and identify your target and what is beyond. Discuss safety techniques with companions. Never assume that other hunters are responsible. Always keep your gun pointed in a safe direction. Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot. Always keep your gun unloaded until ready to use. Never use alcohol or drugs before or while hunting. Respect property rights and secure permission before hunting. Hunters should unload their guns when crossing fences, climbing into stands, jumping ditches or traversing steep ravines.

I think that it's just the opposite and the turkey is actually stalking you. Most I've seen ran in to the hunter. Would I try it? I'd love to. Even have a full fan dried. Will I? More than likely not. Just enjoy calling them too much. I would love to try it, maybe in the off season. Told my buddy I'd love to let one get close enough to grab its leg. I'm sure it won't turn out as neat as I think it would. 10 pounds rooster flopping hurts bad enough.

John Trout Jr. (a good friend and hunting buddy of mine) was shot in Missouri by a turkey hunter who said he had hunted turkeys for 30 years. That is long enough to know better..
John was set up off a fire lane and was working a bird. John was an excellent caller and a very patient hunter. He had the bird coming in doing double and sometimes triple gobbles.. IOW – he was hot. John heard something in the leaves behind him, but he figured it was another gobbler sneaking in silent mouthed. John knew better than to turn around and try to look. The bird John was working finally showed himself and it went behind a tree John moved his gun to get ready to shoot when the bird came out from behind the tree. BOOM! The other hunter cut down on John. Fortunately John was caught by the edge of the Pattern and ended up with 17 pellets in his back and shoulder. The other hunter had heard the gobbler and was trying to sneak in on him to shoot him. The shooter said he saw John’s gun barrel and thought it was the turkey’s neck and head and shot. Never mind only bearded birds are legal in Missouri and he certainly did not see a beard.
Yes, sneaking up on or stalking birds can be dangerous in many ways.

Stupid people problems. Only thing about it that concerns me is all the safety Nazis who will start screaming I need to wear blaze orange head to toe because THEY got idiots, children, and people who really don't care a hoot about hunting started hunting. I guess not all the people who can't hunt or care to learn can all afford a 60 yard gun so this is something they can afford and Walmart can sell them.

What's your beef with people buying hunting items at Walmart? This isn't the first time I've seen you mention something like this lol. I'm definitely not an idiot nor am I ignorant. I also do my best to learn and practice good hunting skills and safety. However I do buy some hunting items at Walmart.

Not everyone who shops at Walmart is a complete idiot but I bet you every complete idiot, lazy piece of meth addicted trash in Lawrence county ALL DO SHOP at Walmart. Walmart has no class, conscience or morality. They'd put heroin on the shelves in the toy aisle in a heart beat if it was legal tomorrow. I hate to even set foot on WM parking lot but they've run most everyplace else out of business completely in small town Indiana. 30 mile round trip to Walmart is bad enough. Make that pretty much 80 or more to the next better store left who can survive. Who would have ever thought 30 years ago Kroger and Target would be "high class" someday.

I shop Walmart at least once a week. Always told my wife when Walmart had the elderly greeters that when I retire that's the job for me.
