quote]Very nice! Gills are probably my lfavorite fish to eat. I just got back into fishing a few weeks ago after a 5 year layoff. I wasn't really big in it before anyways but I'm all in now. It gives me something to do outdoors while hunting is not in season and my wife and kid's enjoy it as well. Unfortunately the fishing up here in northern part of the state is not the greatest, but I'll keep trying .[/quote]
I think it is better than you think. These fish cane from a lake close to Albion and a buddy got some good ones close to busco last week. Untill I bought the lake house I fished a lot of different lakes and did well. The thing I have noticed is sence I fish the same lake ALL the time i have learned where to fish amd when to catch the better fish in this lake. An old man told me when i was young to pick a lake and fish it exclusively and you will catch more and better fish because you will LEARN the lake and THE fish. BOY WAS HE RIGHT!! GOOD LUCK and do not be afraid to experiment with the way you fish.

Went out about 6 last night. Did some trolling for crappy and got zilch. So eased around lake useing a drop shot rig for gills. Basically got skunked. Ended up pulling up in the weeds and fished out with bobber 4 to 8 feet deep in 10 to 15 foot of watter and got 23 gills. All over 7 in. Headed in at 9:55 and had all fish cleaned and stuff put up by 10:10. Was a good evening to be on the water. The sun set on the clouds in the east was beautiful. The moon looked full and big and looked like you could touch it if you had a tall ladder.

Finally caught something! My first ever steelhead! Quite a feat in the creeks too. They are fighters. It was jumping out of the water and running up and down the creek. As soon as it headed for the rapids I followed it down and got it in. Good thing my Buddy was also down here to net it for me.

Used to go up to Bering springs for salmon with gpa and dad. Really liked going to the dam and watching all the excitement there.

At $16.00 to $19.00 a pound I would concentrate on those Yellow Lake Perch.
