Hate to see you go.
This year I saw a big improvement in my two beagles. By the years of 6 and 3, really good dogs should have been running good for a a few years. But mine will now bring rabbits around by themselves with no help from other dogs. My last few times out this year was by myself with just my two dogs. I will have to say that I REALLY enjoyed seeing them run full circles without help!
Going to stop carrying the shotgun now and still continue to take them out to run as long as they don't overheat when it starts getting warmer. Those 70 degree days had them taking breaks in what water we found to cool off before starting another race!!

Now is the time that separates the men from the boys. Some of the best AND worst running you will have is early spring. Early wet spring mornings will have them hammering an old buck rabbit check free. Next rabbit is a young one and you'll try to figure out how to leave the dogs and not get caught. The heat is an issue but run them after dark. Gets them hunting a whole bunch harder and scent is everywhere. Keep an eye out for yotes, they are super protective of the dens. I'd much rather run in the early spring than any other time of the year.

Run over at Glendale quite a bit and have several spots that hold rabbits around Lawrence and Washington counties.

My 6 year old is slow and the 3 year old is maybe a fast-medium speed. They end up working well together, but not usually with faster dogs. The 6 year old will not "pack up" and keeps his own pace on the trail. The younger will pack, but not great at picking up a loss with a quicker pack. I will have to PM you sometime to meet up. Thanks!

I hate to see it go too,I only got out with my dog a few times, just been too busy with other stuff. Hopefully next year I'll be able to get out more. She'll probably never be a great hunting dog but she loves to hunt them and it's good exercise.

Thanks! The slower dogs will be fine with mine. I usually run my older dog and one of my slower ones with my fast ones. They just hang out in the back and after awhile just give up on keeping up and run the track themselves. They catch up eventually since the faster ones always over run the check. Any time you feel like going, hit me up. Always looking for more guys to hang out with. I definitely can put us on some bunnies.
