For those that don't know, the Kel-tec pmr-30 is a 22 mag pistol with a 30 round clip. It's been on the market for a few years now and getting the bugs worked out of it.They'll set you back about $400.
They are picky about how you load the clip to keep the rims in front of the previous in the double stack mag but 30 rounds is nice. The first time loading the clip I could only get 25 in comfortably. Now that I have loaded it a few times I can load 30.It is also somewhat picky about the ammo you run through it.I have not nailed down an absolute but here are my observations.
First I ran o clip of CCI 40 grain maximags without incident. Then turned it over to my brother who had brought Hornady 30grain spiral tips.It jammed every round so I dumped them and reloaded them myself.5,jam,2,jam,2,jam then it ran out the rest of the clip of 30 without incident.I'm not exactly sure how to read this info. I think the jams were the result of a new gun not being lubed yet,an inexperienced loader, the mag not being broke in since it jammed up when full but didn't seem to when you got down to about 20 rounds or so,and the spiral tip opposed to the round nose.
Maybe this helps someone that is considering this weapon and maybe someone out there can help me learn about this new purchase. Thanks, Wade
