Really hate what hunting had turned into. Feel bad for all the new kids coming up with the mentality of hunting these days.

I'm gonna be 36 yrs old next month and last season was my first full deer season. Maybe it's because I'm an adult and have my own way of thinking and don't really care what anyone else says about any deer I take . I don't know how it used to be back in the day because I'm a newbie but I can see where television and social media has turned hunting in to what it is today. As far as I'm concerned the only thing that matters is the individual is happy. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

You skipped right over 2000 and a lot crying in "I killed a ten point." "Cool, wish I could do that" "You can all it takes is time and effort like every one else" "I'm too special for that. I'll get all the rules changed. Then I can hunt them just like a poacher did in 1980." Who were the big leaders in getting all those rules change from the 80's to now Woody? I only remember a couple of guys who were doing all the whining. There's a few specific guys who bare the biggest responsibility for what hunting has turned in to NOW compared to then. Who would they be?

I'm to the point in my life where I'll hold out for a good buck or go home empty-handed, but no one can ever accuse me of being an elitist hunter. I will gladly shake the hand of a hunter who kills a spike buck and sincerely congratulate him/her. It sickens me when I read comments berating a hunter for shooting a "dink", and especially when I read of some worthless father who won't let his child shoot a small buck for his first one. They think that they are "teaching" their child to be a good hunter, but all they are doing is ruining the child's experiences and creating another snob hunter.

What the hell does weapon choice and availability have to do with the original post on this thread? Smh
If that's all you can think about, you have truly missed the whole point and are part of the problem and an example of hunter 2017

If you think so then your lost again...SMH Better go back to hunting on the ground....

The whole point of this thread is a comparison of how people viewed buck harvests then and now, nothing more, nothing less. How it morphed into this method versus that method is beyond me.

I would add "how much private ground did you have to buy/lease to have a buck get that old" I had no sheds, no cam pics, no sightings, no food plots, and no hit list last season. I'm pretty sure the video crew leasing up the entire area around me did, though. All I did was secure a spot in a low firearm pressure spot

What I see in the meme is nothing more than a simple exercise in contrast from then to now....

I'm thinking you might just have the elite property. I do have access to some pretty nice ground. And sometimes a pretty decent buck will show up. Lol!

No offense to today's new hunters or the style in which they hunt. We all hunt for our own reasons. As for me, I sure miss the old days 👍
