Does this still have a sunset date of 2020 to evaluate ? Yes, nothing changed except legal calibers.

Does it say anything about public land?

There is an issue with the bill but it has nothing to do rifles. I'll keep you informed when I can say more.

Could care less if this is a better way of doing the whole HPR thing...but zero reasons Legislatures should be writing hunting regulations.

Since this is a DNR bill, it is my opinion that they are probably the ones trying to clarify the HPR stuff this time around. I doubt that this is some legislator's work.

Okay. I misunderstood your post and thought you were knocking the General Assembly for getting involved in the HPR issue again. Lol!

Any updates on this in the last couple weeks?
Though I just got a .308 Remington 783 and did the load development on it last year (and of course, a scope and Boyd's stock), and popped a couple deer in the pasture at 230 and 240, I'd really like to use my stainless barreled 6.8 AR, when it rains. The AR is lighter and more accurate, as well.
Thanks, Mike

The AR is lighter and more accurate, as well. Thanks, Mike More accurate??? What is your set up?? I'd say skilled shooter will shoot the Rem better but worst case the same. Love the 6.8 round. I really don't mean to wag my whacker here or anything, but I've been a hi-power competition shooter since I was 13 (23 years ago), and aside from the garand match that I didn't know went into my average, while I'm officially still an "expert" class shooter, but I've got enough scores in the master range to be a Master-class shooter. There are lot of guys better than I am, but my own assessment is that I'd be considered a "skilled shooter." That aside, the 783 seems to (barely) be a 1MOA rifle with match BTHP bullets, but I'm having trouble finding a loading and hunting bullet that's better than 1.5MOA in it. (1.5MOA sounds good until you consider than 1.5MOA at 350 yards is a 5.25" group, before you count velocity variation or wind correction or any of that.) I think I'm almost there, pending some more load development and chronograph work, but it's getting a little hotter than I normally like loading stuff that I develop in the winter, so I need to check it out in the summer, as well, to make sure it's not over-pressure in the heat. With the plastic stock, it was VERY sensitive to shoulder/forearm pressure, but with the heavier and stiffer boyd's stock, it's not nearly as bad. With the plastic stock, I could shift the POI by like 4MOA based on how tightly I pressed it to my shoulder. It's got a 3.5-14 nikon FFP BDC scope on it. The 6.8 AR, though I haven't done any load development with it yet, just burning through ammo to get the brass, has proven to be a pretty consistent .88MOA rifle, just on a bipod (no bags or anything), with a 3-9x scope and a stock trigger that I polished and put the yellow springs on. This is just with factory Sellier and Bellot ball ammo, too, not match/hunting ammo or anything. It's a free floated PSA / FN cold hammer forged 410 stainless barrel. Also, because of having less recoil from less energy, as well as the gas system and the stright line recoil impulse of the AR stock (as opposed to a monte carlo stock, especially a plastic one, that will bend under recoil and tend to whip the barrel up and down), it's surprisingly unaffected by how you hold it or where you put pressure, or even to some extent, how much shoulder pressure you put on. In the varying conditions, clothing thicknesses, and shooting positions of hunting, it's a much more consistent platform.

Trigger in AR stock or what did you choose to drop in it?
Nice man, sounds like you shoot far more than the average even gun guy so no doubt you know your firearms better than anyone.

Trigger in AR stock or what did you choose to drop in it? Nice man, sounds like you shoot far more than the average even gun guy so no doubt you know your firearms better than anyone. It's a stock mil-spec trigger that I polished the surfaces on and put the yellow springs on. It's not as good as the bill Springfield triggers in my match AR or any of my other ARs (including in my .458 SOCOM AR that I've been hunting deer with for several years, now), but it's "decent." I'm not a pro shooter or anything, but I'm far from the schmo who buys a box of shells a year, puts a couple down it to check sight in, and goes out hunting. I'm also an engineer, so I won't lie... I get a bit obsessive about accuracy, velocity standard deviation, etc. Mike

barton174, try the usual case prep, then RL-15 and 168g SMK's or 180g Accubonds in the .308.
That's what I'm playing with now, my .308 will shoot 1/2 moa out to 1K with factory Gold Medal Match 168's.
