I figured it was something I said about aliens and bigfoots.
If I say I think I saw something, even I wouldn't think much about it. When swilk says he saw a cougar, I believe it. How it got there is really a mute point. If it can find another one, there will be more.

I would guess that someone has already killed one of these mountain lions by now and practiced sss. It is time to allow hunting for bobcats, imo it seems they are all over.

The state isn't far from agreeing with you. When they started the limited trapping for Otter the other thing on the agenda was a Bobcat season(limited of course. They are just waiting to see the population can survive the pressure and probably, truth be known, public support.I expect it to happen in a couple years. My take on Mt lions, black panthers, jaguars in my parts of the world, I don't care who tells me they have seen one, I'll have my doubts until I personally witness one in the wilds of Indiana. Anybody ever seen a badger in Indiana? In 1983 a buddy of mine caught and released one in a fox set in Pike County Indiana near the small town of Augusta. Yep caught 2 in La Porte county , They really mess up a trap set. Had to have DNR help with releasing one. The other we got out of the trap with not too much problem. He wasn't as mad as the first one.

Put me in the category of folks that have personally, with my own eyes, seen a cougar in Indiana. Couple of them actually. Angel Lange had one briefly that I got to see up close and there was a second one, in the wild, around the Bruceville area. I saw that cat on 3 different occasions and believe it was more than likely an escaped pet. There was a badger killed on hwy41 just south of Vincennes last year. One killed on hwy41 by Oaktown in 2014. My relations who live on a not well traveled road has seen 2 black cats crossing the gravel road, maybe panther etc, but I did see the tracks from them and the lamb they killed. There was also a heifer that they tore up , she was trying to protect her calf. She ran in circles protecting her calf. She had claw marks 6 to 12" long down her hind end and around her neck. DNR confirmed it was a big cat or cats. My mother and father have seen one on different occasions. We have also found tracks by our river, no claws in the print either. I may have never seen one but they are there. I always check my stand before climbing up in it in the dark.

He wasn't as mad as the first one. My buddy called Sugar Ridge FWL, they said to release it at all cost. He put a wash tub over this one and it calmed down real good after trying to choke it down with a hog catcher,,,,big mistake,,,. Left his foot with the trap on it sticking outside of the tub. They released it and beat feet back to the truck with tub still over the badger. Left it there and went to run more traps came back a couple hours later and he was gone. Have not seen one since. He has several pictures of it on 35mm. This one was caught way down in the southern part of the state about 25 miles north of Evansville.
