I'm basically done, but going out just for the very big one that I know where it beds and three of the trials out. Then in January I'm going out with my very good friend for the last Ohio hunt. I will be staying in a log cabin and might not make it out to actually hunt. I know our sons will go out, but not sure how energic we will be. Who knows how cold it will be.

I'll probably get to go out tomorrow hopefully. Haven't got one yet, haven't been out since Saturday but I know they have been out there. No time with a newborn around an all her appointments an juggling everything else.

Just checked the weather for Saturday and rain with 49 degrees on my last Indiana day deer hunting. I guess I need to get out the rain gear. After that going yotes hunting. My son's are buying me the ICOtec GC300 - Call of the Wild Electronic Game Call for Christmas. I think all three are chipping in. yeah. I'm sure my youngest son picked it out.

Take vacation on Thursday. I wish I had enough PTO days. I'm hoping to retire at 62.5 old, so 7 more years. I know. I prefer the coldest, calm clear sunny days. I've seen more big bucks on those days than all other weather days put together. I like tomorrow (9/32 with 9 mph winds), Thursday 11/16 with 12 mph winds. 9 degrees and calm in the morning hours to noon or so (9-10am) is prime big buck time.

There has been some discussion om this thread about letting young bucks grow. Until I get my first deer I don't agree with that thinking. I hunt because I love to hunt and I hunt to put meat in the freezer. My buck this year netted 80 lbs of meat. To me that is a successful kill. A year's worth of meat for my wife and me and grand kids of course. It also puts his weight between 184 and 192 lbs on the hoof. That is no baby. Last two prior years my bucks netted 100 pounds in the freezer. That puts them at 210-220 on the hoof. Would I take a smaller buck? Sure would if the freezer was nearing empty. Just my thinking. No way will I criticize someone who disagrees with me.

If successful great, if not, no big deal. Plus, I just love to be out there in the beautiful mother nature. Great time for meditation and prayer.

But first and foremost im a meat hunter! And i absolutely love to hunt. But seeing as i usually dont see but maybe 2 bucks a year here 3 if im really lucky so im forced to shoot whatever buck comes by if i want to get a deer! Now at the property i hunt thats over an hour away where i dont get to hunt much because. Of the drive there are more deer so am more ae to pass the little ones there! I would do anything to have some prime land to hunt that i knew i could ket the little guts walk. But am not that lucky so as for now i take what offers itself!

I'm done in Indiana unless a big one comes by when I'm out with my daughter. I've still got my 2nd buck tag from the TB test. I've also still got an either sex tag here in Ohio and we've got a 2 day gun and muzzleloader seasons coming up. Other than that my daughter is still trying for her first.

You and I both know it and hunt accordingly. Wish I could be selective but where you and I hunt "selective" means empty freezer. I'd love to live in one of the top ten harvest counties but I don't. Actually we are in the bottom 10%.
