My apologies to my team mates on Team 9 the Deerslayers. I lost the farm that I have hunted for 25 + years the last week of October due to the partial sale of the land. The landowner and his wife health as been declining for a couple of years now and they decided to down size and sell off most of the farm (107 acres of the 120 acres).
The new landowner purchased the land for him and his son to hunt and would not let myself or my son to finish out this season.
Sure going to miss that place, lot of good memories there.
I have a small place in Martinsville to hunt but it gets a lot of surrounding pressure. I also still have a deer reduction zone spot, but have not even seen a deer.
Still some time left though, so we will stay at it.
And congrats to those that taken a deer.

I have lost land in the same manner. I wish many seasons of bad luck for the new land owner. I realize that he purchased the land and has every right to do what he wants, but stiffing you with nowhere to hunt this season is just plain greedy. Karma is a real *&%$#.

I am proud to have you on our team regardless of your success or lack thereof. I hope you will stick with us next year as we haven't done that well yet. One team member is my grandson who couldn't get the job done with a buck in his sights at 40 yards. Another team member is my son in law who works seven days a week. This team isn't about winning. It is about fun with family, old friends and new friends. The season is still young. No apologies are necessary. Also, no explanations are necessary. Hunting is hard and gets harder when extra challenges are added. Stick with the team and we always have next year. Seriously, no regrets, just hunting. Jim

Why would you be upset at someone who ponied up the funds to buy land to hunt on for themselves? I don't get it. If I bought land for myself, specifically for hunting, I don't think I would just let someone I don't know finish out the season on my new land. I'm buying it for me to hunt on, not so someone I don't know can continue hunting it. There is quite a bit of time left in the Indiana deer season so I could see someone being excited to get out there and hunt their new plot of land they probably just overpaid for. I suppose the situation would be a little different if it was someone you were friends with bought it and then immediately kicked you off of it...

Sorry to hear that, saltydog. I lost close to 600 acres a year or two years ago, but it didn't sting too badly, as I hadn't hunted that farm for a number of years anyway. It was nice having it on the back burner for a couple of decades though. Hopefully something will come along that is at least as good as you lost, if not better.

I'm losing a urban area just 2 minutes from home at the first of the year. A farmer friend of mine is selling off his farm in pieces and this plot he just sold last month was the only out of 450 acres with woods on it. It was 77 acres with a pond and about 35 acres woods, just killed a 8 point and doe on it last month. Would have bought it myself except it sold for 1.2 million, yes 1.2 million.

This is one of the most absurd things I think I've ever heard. I just dont understand your thought process. Someone comes in and legally buys the land and you wish bad karma on them because they don't want a stranger hunting their land with them.

Well a 24 year old guy bought the property, more power to him. I've heard he wants to build on it and put up a pole barn for his heavy equipment business. Luckily I still have another spot 5 minutes from home about 10 acres I can hunt, just no water source on it which is important in dry years.

Speaking of karma....I wonder what any future landowners would think of that attitude if they were considering letting you hunt? I can only speak for myself but I know what I'd think....

$1.2M for 77 acres is among the most expensive I've ever heard short of high demand commercial ground. But value is based on what someone is willing to pay...
