Woody!??! You wound me. Absolutely this was in jest. With about 2400 hunters a year doubling up on antlers, there was absolutely no herd health reason for the OBR. Now, with crossbows allowed all season, I believe there would be more than those 2400 tagging two sets of racks a year. I also don't believe there is a herd health reason for the OBR with current weapon rules, but that won't help get rid of it. Could you imagine the IWDHM reaction if they eliminated the OBR All I can think about is how many spikes would actually get put to use instead of left in the field. Next time your out take and post pics of the deer your talking about.... Help educate us!

I don't know how far they go back, but they do keep track of how many we check in. This thread didn't ask how many we've checked in. There could be a discrepancy with some of these fellas ...just sayin' . Does that mean I get to count the gut shot doe that a landowner found at his pond one year and asked me to finish it off with a knife, and the 4-pointer I killed with my Jeep? How about the time my cousin shot a doe with a muzzleloader and didn't have a reload, so I had to kill it with my bare hands when I showed up to help him drag it out? Lol! Nope.

I started around 1983 at the young age of 22. Now 33 years later at the great age of double nickel (55) I've harvested somewhere around 66-70 deer. For a few years I would take 4 deer, but that's the most. Two with archery and two with gun/muzzleloader.

There could be a discrepancy with some of these fellas ...just sayin' . This is true.. I didn't check in the last buck I killed (8 pt). I've also killed a 6 point and a forky in the past few years that didn't get checked in.

I honestly have no idea. But, I have used one knife to field dress I'd say 99% of all the deer that I've killed. I will have to post a picture of it next to a new one. I retired the old one 2 years ago.....

I don't know about anyone else, but I think you could probably just check them in here for this year to make up for it.

I used to be able to tell about every one but i lost count. I remember the first one like it was yesterday and the second as it was the next day. Both with a bow. I was 15. I know my dad went 33 years without not getting one and only did because he switched focus on harvesting more mature bucks only. I know I have hunted 7 years without a bow kill as I only hunt mature bucks now. I have taken as many as 7 in a year in the past but that was back in the late 90s with 2 bucks and muzzle loader bow and shotgun and have taken just one buck the last three and some at big oaks. I estimate it at 50 or more but I'm 38 and hunted every year since 12. I am morexcited of a conservationists as I grow as a hunter. I now keep track of deer I could have taken. U would be surprised how often you see the same deer when you get to know what your land holds. I find it much more rewarding to hunt now too.

I had a pretty detailed list of all my deer kills up to a few years ago and had just topped 50 last I remember. That computer bit the dust and I've lost all that info. Guessing 60-65 at this point. First deer at 15..17 seasons in now.
