What combo do you shoot out of your optima? I bought one over the summer havent shot it yet. May get it out to the range and see how i like it Mine likes 250grain tc shockwaves they are yellow with 100grain triple 777 pellets with a Winchester primer. Are you guys cleaning after every shot? Ive got an old knight thats been my killer for years. I clean that thing about once every 4 or 5 shots. It seems the dirtier that it gets the better it shoots.

Dialed in my Accura V2 today. Shot Powerbelt Platinum 270 gr and TC XTP bullets in Mag Express sabots, 240 gr. Those TC's really impressed me. 1" group at 100 yards. Not so with the Powerbelts. They were accurate but not that accurate. Looking for some does on my place Saturday I usually use the TC (hornady) 240gr XTP, but found I only had 3 left. Re sighted my Optima for 245gr Powerbelts tonight as I had a whole pack of them. Went on Midway to order XTP and found the TC package of 30 for $0.10 less per piece than the Hornady 20 pack. FYI. Thanks for the heads up! Nathan found these for me at the end of last season. They were darn near giving them away at Academy then. Got two 30 packs.

I did yesterday with the TC XTP's too just out of habit. I'll shoot them today to see how they do without cleaning

I couldn't imagine going 4 shots that bullet has to be tuff going down. I shot three shots this year went from powerbelts back to the tc shockwaves 250 gain. Just felt more confident. First shot was about 2 inches low 12 clicks up an dead on the next two shots. Shot a landury bottle dead were I was aiming.

I will run a patch between shots up to 3 while sighting in. But I don't foul my bore so its a clean barrel when I am hunting. Mine really doesn't seem to matter if its fouled or not for better accuracy.

Mine really doesn't seem to matter if its fouled or not for better accuracy. I do the same when sighting-in, but the first cleaning patch I apply some denatured alcohol until just wet. Clean the barrel and run three more DRY patches down the barrel & reload.

Went out this afternoon to finish the dial in process. First shot key holed yesterday's last shot. Took a measurement. 6 clicks right and 12 clicks down. Next shot, without cleaning, split the X at 100 yards off sand bags. TC/Hornady XTP, 240 gr. I like these so much better than Powerbelts. Now if a doe will just show herself at my place Saturday.....

You can actually buy another bundle license if you choose. You still have an antlered deer that you can take in either muzzleloader season or archery season. It's all up to you. That's the cheapest and best way to go.. Question: no matter how many different licenses I buy, one buck is the maximum? For instance I have one buck so I can't buy another license of any type to take a second? Correct? This thread got me confused, but that is not so hard to do.......

This past weekend I pulled out my old Thompson Center 1987 50 cal muzzleloader. I have two bullet left, caps and powder etc.. I think it's been 20-22 years since my last buck kill with this gun. Next time down to the farm, I will check the log book. My wife remembers the 2nd year married or so that I used it. That would make it 1994.

Unless you go on a state park hunt As in a reduction hunt as opposed to a draw hunt? Ok, hopefully this won't muddy the waters further. Archery, firearms, muzzleloader, or bundle license allows you to kill one, and only one, antlered deer statewide. State Park early reduction hunt allows 3 total deer, one of which can be antlered. No license required. State Park late reduction hunt allows 3 total deer, one of which can be antlered. No license required. Any and all military/refuge hunts, whether drawn or as a partner, allows the hunter to purchase a military/refuge license which is good for one deer of either sex, or the hunter can use their State license. So, honestly, a hunter could legally kill a bunch of antlered deer each year if luck and finances allow. As for a second statewide antlered deer, that is possible with deer reduction zones and deer reduction zone licenses, as well as this year those who checked in a 2 year old or older antlered deer in the bTB area. Any questions? :-)

I think you covered it firstwd. About 5 years ago I killed three bucks in one season. My state tag, brown county state park, and an atterbury hunt. Killed them all within about a two week span.
