I'm competing against the deer, not other hunters.
I will say what irritates me is when a sloppy hunter has deer walk under them, they take a bad shot, and they watch the deer drop within 40 yds of the stand. Let's just say I know a couple of people that are lazy, sloppy, and extremely lucky, while I'm working my butt off.

I get it, I understand, competition keeps you sharp... But when it comes to hunting, with so many variables, how could a person possibly compete with anyone other than perhaps themselves? I mean unless you regularly can-hunt off a place up in northern Canada, (and which you also genetically breed deer on) you'll never "win". So I do get the "competition" thing but it's just not for me i guess. When it comes to hunting, if im blessed with a record setter or a young doe, I'll give thanks and call it a personal win. And if you scored a record setter or a young doe, i'd congratulate you all the same. But to say that you won and I lost, not gonna happen cause I don't see us as competitors. Yea I totally agree. I don't know how to score deer antlers! Shot one last year that could make a book based on some buddies assessment...I could care less. But I want to shoot a nice deer and like already stated it is more a competition between me and a deer. Maybe friendly comp between friends. Strangers not a chance! Anyways I wouldn't let it bother me. Some people just dont know any better.
